How active are you in the kingdom?: Ah'm always out an about. (I'm on throughout the week and try to roleplay with anyone who will stop to RP. I'm not always on during peak times though.)

What god do ye worship the most?: Ah worship an' praise all ta' Brathmordakin, but next ta' Yemekar ah praise Anbella fer 'er love an' protection ov ta' dwedmar.

    Spoiler

"Honour is the most important thing to the dwedmar. Without it, a dwed is nothing. Here we had two dwed whose blades met for the seat of clan father. They both fought well from what I heard, but in an honour duel there can only be one winner. That isn't to say though that one must lose their honour with the duel.

Duren hasn't lost his honour in my eyes. The transition of power has been peaceful and he can remain a proud. Yet, Kerwyr is now the leader of our great and venerable clan. He has lead us through troubled times before and he will again. Duren has had his time, as did I. It's time now for us to come together and support Kerwyr. We cannot let ourselves squabble any longer. So I beg of the supporters of Duren, either come forward and support our new clan father or part ways peacefully.

Bloodshed among dwedmar is one of the gravest things that can be committed. We are all children of Yemekar and Anbella and I beseech you as I do them, let this transition of power be one of peace and blossom into a new era of prosperity for us all."

  3. As you approach the bulletin board, your eyes scanning over the numerous notes and decrees pinned to it, there might be one that caught your eye. It was penned in thick black ink, some of the words splotched.  None the less, the penmanship was flowing and elegant. It read as follows,

"My name is Simon Durand. I'm nothing more than a simple man. I have no skills to speak of. I know no one or anything. But,I have the willingness to learn and submit myself to the teachings of anyone who has knowledge of alchemy and would take me as their pupil. I live deep in the Green District right on one of the main roads. You will not be able to find a more dedicated and willing student and I hope this note finds my future teacher.

    Sincerely,

    Simon Durand"

I hope this isn't swept under the rug as "It was an honest mistake". Some punishment has to derive, or it will set a very, very very bad precedent.

Not every accident or incident requires punishment. No one was hurt, pixels were lost, people are being compensated. Anyone who ever has had managerial experience realizes that every mistake made doesn't require a punishment and it doesn't set some bad precedent. It shows that we're all aware we're human and that we all make mistakes. To all the people saying that Tahmas should be banned as well, you all have no concept of how to run an organization and I question your warped moralities on the issue. I have made my stance known though and I would consider it a failing on the part of the staff if Tahmas was banned or removed. People in training make mistakes.

I hope all of you calling for his head can take a moment and reflect on this and consider what it would be like for you to be in this position and I pray that you never are in an environment where people want your blood. Grow up quickly, kids, the real world is right around the corner.

I just think it's bent that when GM's make huge errors they can just come on the forums and make some feigned apology. He says he is taking full responsibility for it yet someone else is being banned.

I believe you don't think you appreciate the whole situation here. The banned party did this out of malice, the GM here had no idea that the code would cause this, it was an accident. I don't know why you can't see this.

  6. 22 minutes ago, Shalashask said:

If you are taking full responsibility for this don't you think you should be banned as well? Or at least removed from the GM team for your incompetence?

Cut this **** out. Things happen, it was also bad coding from what I can tell. He came out and he has accepted the responsibility for his actions and from what I can tell, he's on the ball with this. People acting like white middle aged soccer moms demanding to talk to someones manager. A staff position is basically a customer service position and the staff is only human. Treat people how you would want to be treated, so if you want to make mistake and have someone crawl up your ass and make a home for a nuclear family of four and their dog, then go right ahead.

Fights where rolls are done on every attack are absurd. I've never understood why people would allow a fights outcome to be based off chance.

The only reason I enjoy it in tabletop RPGs is you can show experience and skill with your character by having a lower chance of failure. I'd honestly prefer RP default for small groups and make PvP default for everything else (Nothing I expect to happen, I've grown to accept PvP default is and will continue to be the norm). The roll feature should only really be used if there is a dispute in RP that can't be resolved. I agree with your sentiment, its beyond me why you'd just leave it up to chance when there isn't anything beyond a dice roll to keep you from winning or losing.

  8. Vondan would have been seen waddling around the Urguan camp early one morning, posting pieces of parchment to trees and anything else he could drive a nail into.

Upon taking a closer look at the parchment, you would read the following

"To my brothers and sisters of Urguan, I ask that we all come together in front of Kal'Akash at the Rhewengrad memorial during the coming Grand Harvest. I'll be conducting a sermon then and there, along with accepting charity so we can distribute the wealth to those in need.

    Brathmordakin watch over you.

    OOC INFORMATION

    Date: 3/26/2016

    Time: 8:30 PM EST

It'll be a fairly short sermon and I'd really enjoy people coming out to this. Hope to see you all there!

  9. **** man, I'm feeling the love. Its funny how when I come back, you leave. It happens though, I needed a good long break from LotC. There'll be no shame if you come back either. If you do come back, hit me up. If you don't, well you're a good kid. Keep it real dude.

As a wise man once told me, in whatever you do, have fun.

  10.

Can questions and answers actually be recorded and posted this time? I remember the last time it was requested,it was said it'd happen but never occurred. This is just for those, like myself, who won't be able to make it.

This is the case for myself and I try to make time to attend every meeting. I've a few questions.

    1) Is a return to RP-default on the table for the staff at this time, and can you give your reasoning behind the staff's position?

    2) What fixes for the problems with the war claims in general, lag and all, are currently on the table?

    3) In the next map, will the removal of fast travels take place?

    4) What policies are the game moderators and administrators as a whole currently working on to better the community?

    5) Is lowering the bar, even slightly, into nationhood a possibility in the future for the server, this map or next?

    6) Are there any plans to try to change the overly competitive culture of LotC?

  11. OOC: For ease of reading for people who are not used to dwedmar accents, I have put this up without butchering the English language.

Vondan stood up at the altar at the temple, looking out among the benches at everyone who had gathered there. He shuffled his papers as more people filed in, checking his notes as he waited for the last of the stragglers to show up. Finally, he nodded to the congregation and spoke.

"Its good to see the ******* lot of you here today, if I hadn't seen some of you I'd have to find you after I'd finished my sermon and beat the bloody **** out of you. But no, I'm serious. Its good to see all of you who made it. Those who didn't show up either didn't have the time or got too **** faced to show up and forgot this was happening." he chuckled, looking about the room. "Let's think about that for a second though." he said, lifting a finger as he shook it in the air.

"Some dwedmar have forgotten about the Brathmordakin. Why, the other day I was approuched by a young dwed who has just returned to our glorious Urguan and you know what he asked me? He asked me who Yemekar was. I was shocked. To think there are dwed out there who don't even know who Yemekar is. Then we have the dwedmar who know of the Brathmordakin, but just don't have the time to dedicate to them. During my time in Kal'akash, the only time I hear any Brathmordakin's name pass the lips of my brothers and sisters is before a battle as they ask Dungrimm to be with them." he started to shake his hands in the air.

"If you were a Brathmordakin, how would you feel about this? I don't know how all of you would feel, but I can tell you how I would feel. I would be absolutely furious." his voice grew louder and reverberated throughout the temple. "I'd be stark raving mad that I had done everything I could to help and guide the dwedmar and more and more every day, they forgot me. I'd be irate that I was not being given my due reverence and prayers. Imagine how Yemekar would react seeing that young dwed that I spoke too not even knowing who he was."

He lowered his voice again, speaking in a fatherly tone. "I feel like this is comparable to a family I knew in my travels before I returned to Urguan. I stayed with a very large family in Oren. The head of the family, the sweetest old woman you could've ever meet, did nothing but provide for her family. She would work from the wee hours of the morning to the dead of night for them. I stayed there for a whole season and not a single time did I see her shown more than the slightest sign of affection or gratitude. Yet, she was always happy and continued to slave away for her children and grandchildren, largely taken for granted. I found myself wondering, what would happen when she died? It's a horrible thing to assume things will always be the way they are and that you'll always be taken care of. That family I stayed with probably fell apart for a time with the passing of that kind old woman. More than a few of them might've realized how horrible they had been.

The Brathmordakin are like that sweet old woman. They slave away to help us dwedmar and a good amount of us take fore granted everything they have done for us. I've done it a time or two myself. What I've done though is realized what I was doing and returned to the embrace of the Brathmordakin and realized nothing is a given. We cannot turn our backs on the beings who love and care for us so much, who have guided us through the dark and troubling times, and have stood watch over us during peace, protecting us.

No, its time for a new age. Its time for us to bring the faith back into our daily lives and bring it back to the forefront of every dwedmar. Its time for us to strengthen our roots and spread the Brathmordakin faith. Its time for a new beginning, a new age. Everyone who is gathered here today, we need you. The Brathmordakin need you. When you leave today, speak to at least a few people about the faith. Remind them what the Brathmordakin have done for us, both dwedmar and other races. Before you nod off tonight, thank Yemekar for giving us life.

    Brathmordakin guide you all."

  12. LoTC In General:
What do you like about LoTC? - I'm fond of the large player base and the multitude of choices and relative freedom of role play. There is very deep and rich lore that can be drawn upon time and time again. It has amazing potential.

What do you dislike about LoTC? - I'm not overly fond of PvP default. It's something that is needed for wars and battles, but the constant raids and banditry is extremely off putting and would rather see people use roll based combat before PvP. A significant portion of the community is fixated on combat, which does drive story, but some people are here only for combat. Its something that I think has to change, but I don't think it will.

Additionally, I find that the community in general lacks maturity and is generally disrespectful of one another, sometimes to disgusting degrees. The things that people get away with saying and doing to each other is absolutely appalling and utterly inappropriate. There is entirely no need for the level of toxicity & vitriol that is exchanged between people. I understand the community is full of younger people, but there is such thing as civility and manners. As a member of society, being ill mannered is inexcusable, which is what a lot of what goes on around here is, inexcusable.

What is something LoTC needs to do more of? - There needs to be harsher and swifter action taken by the staff to crack down on the toxic behavior of the community and we need to take it upon ourselves as a community to change and police ourselves to make this a more friendly place and move the server to a collaborative story telling platform and not a faction competition.

What should LoTC do less? - There should be less emphasis on combat and wars. This could be achieved by an overhaul of the war claim system. I'll not go into detail as to how that is done, because I doubt that the system would change. If the staff is interested in hearing my suggestions, I check my inbox daily.

What did you like specifically about previous maps? - I cannot say as I've only been here for Vailor.

What would be interesting to see in a future map? - No fast travels, interesting and cool places along the roads. Dangerous wilderness. Roadside Inns. Underground dwarven city which is actually underground and not what Kal'akash is. I'd also like a vast desert/barren wasteland sort of map.

What keeps you coming back to the server? - The hope things will change. Other than that, the friends I've made here. There is very little else at this point.

    Events and Interaction:
Does LoTC need an antagonist? - Possibly. If the players themselves aren't able to generate an actual threat then yes.

Do you think LoTC needs more incentive to explore? - Yes, there needs to be more exploration to create more role play, even if its only temporary areas that might appear with a mana storm and disappear soon after.

Do you think the server’s players need to work together more? - Yes and no. Conflict drives story. If we all worked together then there would be no conflict and it would be boring. Do I think we need to work together more with collaborative story telling and be willing to make sacrifices to create a more gripping and interesting saga? Yes. Do I think we as a community need to stop being so competitive and aggressive and learn how to play nice? Yes.

    Plugins and Development:
What do you think of the skill plugin? Rate the skills plugin on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being your dream plugin that meets every element beyond expectations. - I don't have a firm opinion either way on the plugins.

What plugins do you think the developers need to work on? - The Professions plugin should be reevaluated but otherwise I have nothing to say.

Do you feel there are any plugins that you directly interact with that should be changed? - The professions plugin needs reevaluated and the staff needs to make an informed decision on what they see if it needs fixed or not.
  13. "... When 'as anehone livin' in Urguan gave ah damn wot ta' Orenians t'ink 'bout our Kingdom? 'Dis jus' seems like ah bunch of posturin fer 'der own people if ye ask meh. Its ah shame though, it realleh is. Been ah fookin pain in mah arse ta' keep mah businesses goin wit 'dis eternal bloodeh conflict. All 'dis is gonna duh is stoke ta' flames ah bit more."

Vondan let out a long sigh. "Ah'm glad ah got out ov politics, tuh much fookin 'eadaches. At ta' verah least they dun seem ta' 'ave ah problem with ta' average dwedmar demselves anehmore at least publicly..." he shook his head. "Fookin politics."

  14. A notice is pinned up on the announcement boards throughout the city.

Citizens of Kal'Akash, some of you may not have heard, but I have stepped down from my position of Grand Merchant and have decided to dedicate myself to the Kirkja Dverga, or otherwise known as the clergy. I will be holding my first of many sermons at the Temple above Kal'Akash on 13th of the First Seed. I look forward to seeing you all there and if you know of any Umros or Elgus interested in learning more about our faith, invite them to attend as well.

    Brathmordakin guide you all.

    Signed, Vondan Frostbeard

    ___________________________________________________________________________________________

OOC Information: Sermon starts at 7 PM EST this Friday. Its at the temple above Kal'akash. Hope to see you all there.

  15. You're walking on your way someplace as you head down Yemekar's Path through Kal'Akash. It's the dead of night and the punishing cold and tempest surely sapped the warmth from your bones. Off in the distance, you can hear raucous laughter accompanied with lively music. As you keep walking, a large building with massive wooden doors comes into view. A warm and welcoming light emanates from the hall that mingled with the smell of freshly cooked pork that wafted through the air.

Entering the hall, you see the main hall has been filled with tables of dwedmar, along with a few humans and a smattering of elves. You're welcomed immediately, a hospitable dwarf handing you a full tankard of mead and ushering you deeper into the hall and around a corner. Its here the music is loudest and the laughter rolls over you like a powerful wave. At the head of the table, sitting in front of a throne was a relatively tall dwarf with thick black hair and an icy blue eye, his other covered by a leather eye patch.

Anotta' guest, eh? Take ah seat 'den!” the Frostbeard said with a grin. “Weh were just about ta' share some stories 'ere. Doesn't 'urt much ta' 'ave anotta' person ta' 'ear ov Frostbeard gloreh.” the dwarf chuckled, grabbing hold of a nearby tankard, guzzling it down like a man dying of thirst. He slammed it back down onto the table and thick foam now clung to his beard.

Ah t'ink ah'll tell ye' all 'bout mah trials. Now Kerwyr was ta' clan fa'tah at ta' time an' yeh all know 'ow 'e pushed ye tuh ta' duh wot needed done an more. Ah fookin slave driver, 'e was. Buh ah'll beh damned if 'e didn' inspire ye ta' get t'ings done. Anyways, suh 'e an' ah guh out inta' ta' woods an 'e leaves meh 'dere an says 'Vondan, lad. Ah want ye tuh guh out 'dere an 'kill ah fookin bear wit' nothin' but 'dis sword.' an' at this point ah'm fookin scared shiteless.

Most ov ye know ah'm shite wit ah sword or anytin else fer 'dat matta. Buh ah guh inta' duh woods wit'out complaint because 'e is mah clan fa'tah. Ah spend four 'ours in 'dat blasted cold, freezing mah arse off as ah trudge through ta' snow. Ah passed ta' same bleedin' rock four bloodeh times. Ah was as lost as ah Goldhand wit'out aneh minas in his pocket, ah was.

At 'dis point ah'm jumpin' at everah noise an lookin' 'round fer anythin' when suddenly... all got quiet. Ta' silence 'ung in ta' air like ta' world 'ad ended. 'Den 'dat damned bear rushed through ta' fookin' woods an came up ta' meh, standin up as tall as ta' tree's demselves. Ah was jus' ah beardlin' 'den an ah'd neva' 'ad ta' fight like 'dat, suh ah was terrified ov ta' damned t'ing. Buh ah've stones lads, ah've fookin stones. Ah charged 'dat damned bear and plunged mah sword right into its chest. Ah got suh focused on 'dat tho 'dat ta' bear...

he stopped. Pointing to his heavily scarred face.

... If 'e 'ad hit meh aneh 'arder 'den 'e did, ah wouldn' beh 'ere todah. Dungrimm was wit meh 'dat day, 'e was. Too bad fer all of ye 'e didn' kill meh, now yer stuck wit meh fer ah long time.” he said chuckling to himself as he picked up a loaf of bread, tearing a massive chunk out of it as he bit into it.

  16. Henceforth, all clan halls are forbidden to have any person quartered in its walls. Any person who currently resides in a clan hall is to vacate its premise by The Grand Harvest of 1535. Any clan caught housing any persons in their clan hall will be fined 500 minas. Furthermore, all construction of additions to clan halls is to be immediately halted and any infractions of this decree will also be met with a fine of 500 minas. In order to continue construction, the respective clan father must contact myself or Azaghal Doomforged. Inspections will be held to ensure adherence to this decree. Those who report infractions to this decree will be well rewarded. Further reforms will be enacted at a further date

However, those who possess dwedmar clan halls within the Grand and Glorious city of Kal'akash will no longer have to pay any tax on their properties. These halls may still be used as storage and places of meeting for their respective clans.

I have made this decree because we hardly make the income needed to ensure our Grand Kingdom is strong enough to stand against the test of time and that the clans spend their time locked away, plotting against each other. We cannot afford to play games in the shadows against one another, especially in such troubling times. The time is now to become closer with our brother and sister dwedmar and let out kinship become the foundation for a stronger Urguan.

In anticipation of the citizenry who will need homes, we have expedited the construction of Kal'Yarred, The City Below. There are fine new homes there and the construction is near complete, but the homes are on the market and ready to be moved into. We also have many vacancies in upper Kal'akash, from the warrens which are a tax free one room home to our larger homes across the city.

I'd also remind the citizens of the Grand Kingdom of Urguan that the Legion under the King's Warband offers many opportunities to those in need. You will receive a place to sleep, eat, and pay every stone week. You would also have the honour of serving our Kingdom and protecting our borders.

Others may not wish to join the Legion can have the independence of working alone but still helping better the Grand Kingdom by becoming a worker at the Urguan Warehouse. Here, you would drop off your goods and be paid by the Kingdom for your work.

Dwedmar of Urguan, unite to form a better future!

    Signed Grand Merchant, Vondan Frostbeard

    OOC

Summery: No one can live in clan halls anymore, only meet there and store things. You no longer have to pay taxes on dwarven clan halls. All building is to be halted. Anyone caught disregarding this decree will be fined 500 minas. If you report people disregarding the decree, you will be rewarded. Inspections will be carried out to make sure people are following this decree. More changes to come.
