    Origin

The halls of The Mages Guild were bustling with activity as magi from all across the realm sought the expertise of the Aegisian guild’s many arcane traditions. This activity created a diversity of ideas as various ambitious minds melded together to develop the arcane.

As the guild expanded, claiming new guild halls across the realm that inject voidal practices into the mainstream of mundane society, did the guild find a new need to safely and quickly travel between guildhalls. A way that did not require magi to travel across the unsafe wastes of hollow-lands, murky forests, humid swamps, or bandit-ridden deserts. Thus, the guild devised an idea.

Mimicking the aesthetic style of the ancient world portals used to travel descendants between the various continents, researchers at The Mages Guild reverse engineered the essence of these portals into a new working arcane model, using Translocation and Transfiguration magics.

All Translocator Portals come in pairs which are capable of acting as semi-permanent mana anchors allowing organic and in-organic matter to travel between the two. Unlike their cousin invention “Voidal Tears” which The Guild used as a base reference for creating portals; this invention does not cause voidal corruption as the two mana anchors are limited to being placed within the dimensions of each portal frame, and a ward system has been integrated into the enchantments placed upon the portal which shields all mortals that pass through or stand near the portal from any adverse effects; thus destroying any lingering voidal corruption produced by the portals activation.

Translocator Portal frames come in a variety of sizes ranging from a 3x3 meter portal that is only able to transport an individual person at a time, to a 7x7 portal. Though, The Guild theorizes that this size range serves merely as a soft cap, and is able to surpass the prescribed dimensions.

With the various potential uses portals may bring, The Mages Guild has further pondered upon the practical applicability portals may have in facilitating seamless travel and trade which will satisfy the migratory delights of the descendants. Therefore The Guild hopes that portals may be a boon to all groups with a large enough congregation of translocators, and be a tool that improves the impact magi have on the mundane world.

    Creation

Orchestrating the creation of a Translocator Portal is an arduous feat at best. It requires a series of interactions between many different magi of varying voidal schools and proficiencies, and is no mere task for an individual. The creation of a portal can thus be broken down into 3 prongs:

    First Prong: The Arcane Hedron

    jw0dD-qwelusu39sokZim7Bh6Q_j6yow8oBaRfGmYgqI97sHvk2YSI89bBwgXmYoXXVxo3F1Im9gjaUfqN5hS1IaukHO_CrdNIgNjD27VvuehoRFYntH9-HKqPxKPy2n5OtAM2Ab

After sifting through the complex of ancient tomes in The Mages Guild library, the researchers of the guild rediscovered the ancient writings of a lost invention devised by the past archmage Kalameet Izalith. Famed for his development of the Mana Obelisk which is still used today, the archmage had a few lesser known inventions which were obscured by the recesses of time; Lexicons and Holocrons.

The Arcane Hedron combines the base functionality of Kalameets’ Lexicons and Holocrons as both a storage device of information and replicator. However, whereas Kalameets’ Lexicons were used to store sound, text and visuals; only to be replicated by its sister invention the holocron; the researchers of The Mages Guild adapted Arcane Hedrons to instead store the mana-signature of spells imbued upon them and later release this mana-signature to be used for a given purpose.

The Arcane Hedron for the purposes of this spell must be forged from arcanium imbued with translocation magic. The surface of the Arcanium must be transmuted with a series of arcane glyphs that are so finely shaped that replication using mundane means is nigh impossible. These glyphs describe the exact purpose the Hedron will serve in the ritual they are used for. Afterwards an individual with the artificery feat must imbue an enchantment upon the arcanium so that it may then serve the purpose of being a receptacle of translocation and transfiguration magic.

Due to the severe cost in mana it takes to create a single Arcane Hedron, the mage who created the hedron will find themselves unable to cast magici for 12 (OOC) hours. After this period of time their mana pools will have been sufficiently replenished to create another.

It is also of note that Arcane Hedrons carry the strange property of not being bound by gravity, and will remain in whatever position it is spatially located in, unless another counter force is placed upon it such as being moved by a hand, pushed, or an alter position spell placed upon it.

The last step in this prong is to imbue two Arcane Hedrons with the mana signature of a powerful translocation spell. This ritual requires at least three translocationists and one transfigurationist who, in a circling ritual, simultaneously imbue both Hedrons with the combined complex of a translocation spell. The process of this ritual begins with the three translocationists pooling their mana together to form a single mana anchor. After filling the mana anchor with a rich amount of mana, the translocationist leading the ritual then must split the initial mana anchor into two connected anchors.

A transfigurationist then places the Hedrons where the split mana anchors are located. When this is done, the transfigurationist must then perform a final enchantment spell on the Arcane Hedrons, where they are imbued with their given portion of the split mana anchor. Then, the ritual is complete, and all participants in the ritual will find themselves so exhausted that they will be unable to cast magic for 12 (OOC) hours.

    Second Prong: The Portal Frame

    4EQ1kjdVP7Hdrd2oTrR6CnVqs_g6UWdwdnQFfC4En8LUiV3C5SJtTAeGHlD5CxMZgZnZTxAlSGulWgWHriZbRCAVfh9WQmIsD5cRGJ5dzjIqyoIG7rfWhCWwR4enZniYrLOliTKY

From within The Mages Guild lies a series of compendiums depicting the appearance of the world portals used in previous continents such as; The Verge, and The Fringe. In this document, the World Portals were commonly shaped in rectangular, or semi-ovular forms and made from earthen materials such as volcanic sediment, and varieties of stone. Despite this, the researchers of the guild have experimented with a variety of shapes and materials only to discover that portals are not so-limited to a simplistic door-like frame. Instead, portals can take on many shapes and forms;as they act as the physical structure which a portals’ rift fills. Portal frames thus determine the rifts’ defined shape.

Because portals are limited in size to some degree, the inner section of a portal frame generally must be between 3x3-7x7 meters in dimension. However, even larger portals can be made. For every additional magi beyond the 3 translocationists and 1 transfigurationist participating in the imbuement ritual, the maximum inner size of a portal frame increases by a 1x1 dimension.

Lastly, because of the great cost of mana needed to sustain the multiple uses of a Translocator Portal, their frames must be erected within the vicinity of a voidal tear, or mana obelisks’ aura. In the alternative, a portal frame can also be connected to a voidal tear or mana obelisk with ley-lines and manawire.

    Third Prong: The Assemblage

    twGms0VH6VcAznqWZu7bHvMsrI7qyNbPYqLlRjnvvhVwZgw_qpO7WNqTg7ljbi9KqpWKE307OZUKhuKLgBiBadYPDfAKpaa7zF75FbKUOx-J5F9M3CBO1gRgUtqX2sBg9k4X6w7S

When two Hedrons have been imbued, and two portal frames have been erected, all that is left is to assemble the parts. This is performed by bringing each hedron to their corresponding portal frame, and placing it into the frames center. Afterwards, a transfigurationist infuses their mana into the Hedron. When this action is performed, the Hedron will spur to life with that mages corresponding aura color; commonly this is seen by a display of magic which causes the Hedron to peel over, and the arcane glyphs scribed upon it to spiral around the Hedron as it charges. Upon the Hedron being sufficiently charged, the spell that is captured within it will be released. This release of the portal enchantments mana signature wreaths the portal frame in the aura color corresponding to the activating mage. This action consumes the Hedron and puts it into a defunct stone like state which cannot be used again; although some choose to keep it as a memento of this grand occasion.

When this process is  repeated on the second portal; the portal system is completed. Finally, anyone may pass between the twin portal frames to their leisure.

    Redlines

    - The required components to creating a portal include; 2 charged Arcane Hedrons, and 2 portal frames

    - To create a Hedron; Arcanium infused with voidal translocation magic needs to be transmuted with arcane glyphs upon its surface, then it must be enchanted by a character with the artificery feat so that it is          able  to receive voidal translocation magic. Afterwards the artificer will be unable to cast magic for 12 OOC hours, as their mana pool will be drained.

Hedrons cannot be used in combat, and cannot be used for any other purpose besides the creation of portals unless additional lore or a Mart is made which utilize a Hedrons function.

    - To charge a Hedron requires a ritual between a minimum of 1 T5 Transfigurationist and 3 T5 Translocationists; after which all participants in the ritual are unable to cast magic for 12 OOC hours

    - The maximum size of a portal is 7x7, however, for every additional T5 mage added to the circling ritual, the dimensions of the maximum portal size increase by 1x1 blocks.

    - The presence of tier 5 mages is compulsory, however magi of a lesser tiers may act as equivalents of a tier 5 magi:

Two tier 4 magi = One tier 5 magi

Two tier 3 magi = One tier 5 magi

    - The creation of a portal requires Moderator approval; a modreq will suffice.

    - The creation of a portal requires Story Team approval; a simple Sreq with screenshots of the creation process will do.

    ____________________________________________________

    Maintenance

Because of a Translocator Portals’ delicate nature; occasional maintenance is often required to upkeep its performance, so that the enchantment laden upon it is not disrupted. Minor repairs may consist of the menial task of affixing mana wires, re-strengthening ley-lines, or merely cleaning the portal frame. Though, sometimes a larger  is repair is needed, which may require a transfigurationist to voidally feel the portal and alter the enchantments laden upon it so that they do not wear overtime through overuse.

Each portal must have a minor repair performed upon it every (OOC) month, however, after two minor repairs have been performed, the third must be a large repair which requires 2 transfigurationists to perform a circling ritual in which they voidally feel the portal with an ST present and must fix the described imperfection in the portal. This may range from a lesser voidal horror getting through the portal, causing it to malfunction by passively feeding off its energy to simply requiring a series of repairs upon the portal through a roll check. It is entirely up to the ST’s discretion. Though, it is important to note that portals are not known to explode.

If the portal fails to be sufficiently repaired, the portal will become defunct. A defunct portal cannot be traveled through, and instead requires a circling ritual with 5 mages, led by a transfigurationist who knows how to make portals in order to reactivate the enchantment placed upon it.

    ____________________________________________________

    Redlines

    - Portals do not produce voidal corruption like their cousin; Voidal Tears and Obelisks

    - Portals act as reskinned ferries, thus all rules related to ferries also apply to Portals

    - Portals can take on any appearance or shape as long as it is comprised of inorganic or dead-organic materials, and has a hollowed out section where the portal is activated

    - Portals cannot be used in combat scenarios nor as a means to fast travel for a raid.

    - Any magic cast into the portal will simply dissipate, and be rendered harmless.

    - Portals can be destroyed in an abjuration circling ritual consisting of 4 T5 Mages, or by physically destroying one of the portal frames (such as with a pickaxe, or hammer); These methods permanently destroys the entire portal system, and requires both portals to be made anew entirely.

    - Portals must be repaired within an OOC month after its creation or since its last repair; after two consecutive minor repairs the third repair must be a large repair

    - Portals require Story Team and Moderator notification that the portal is being destroyed (A simple Sreq or Modreq will suffice)

A Public Letter to the Arcanic Court
(And A Reminder to Check Your Sources)

It is imperative that magical organizations of all realms band together and make sure that alleged misuses of magic are true before releasing information which may cause unnecessary alarm, or harm. Such information, especially when gathered and made public hastily, may often be incomplete or entirely false.

The Mages' Guild is actively seeking ways to close tears, and is actively working to prevent their creation, as several of our public meetings have shown. Additionally, a missive was made public this elven day condemning such practices. Micro-tears do not exist, are not planned for the future, and theoretical experiments - such as creating a single micro-tear in a secure location to practice closing a tear - have not been put into practice. There was an initial plan to create a tiny tear, and then close it, to make sure that the process worked, but this plan was quickly deemed far too risky, for reasons the Arcanic Court has been kind enough to reiterate for us here today.

It is with some confusion that we respond now, as we have been learned that a member of the Arcanic Court was informed the previous elven day that no use of tears was planned, including the proposed micro-tear. This member was identified as Renae Athri'onn, and she stood not five feet away as she was told this information. We can only assume that there must have been a failure of communications within the Arcanic Court itself, for its members to act on and publish information they already should have known to be incorrect.

As we have since the days of Aegis, we intend to promote responsible use and study of the magical arts throughout the continent. The Arcanic Court's intentions are noble, but their methods, internal communications, and failure to contact any member of the Mages' Guild for any sort of clarification or questions - instead relying upon half-truths and rumors - reflects poorly on their wayward organization.

It is understandable that one might jump to conclusions and rush to act, when confronted with the potential for such terrible occurrences as the creation of a new Tear. In such circumstances, it is quite common for fear and reflex to override logic and due diligence. It is not understandable, however, that the Arcanic Court made no effort to properly verify this information, to question anyone involved, or to even ask if any of their own members knew more of the full picture. Such neglect is unbecoming of any group of magi, regardless of how young the organization may be.

To reiterate - The Mages' Guild intends to prevent the creation of tears, punish those responsible for making tears, and close tears wherever and whenever possible. The Guild will work with whatever organizations, magical or mundane, are willing to assist in this goal. This is our firm stance, it is no secret, and if there is ever any doubt about our position on the horrors that Tears can wreak upon the natural world-

It might be best to ask, first. We're all mages. Research should be nothing new.

With the Ando’Alurian hollow looming before the denizens of Arcas’ eastern coast; the hubris of magic has been revealed to all living in this continent. For too long the intemperate use of magic has run unchecked, and the hollow plaguing our lands stands as a testament to the importance of regulating magic. For these reasons, The Mages Guild prescribes the following rules to apply to all members

    1. From this point onwards the art known as “Voidal Tearing” is hereby considered a banned magic by The Mages Guild.

1a. Any member of the guild who willingly creates or sustains a voidal tear will be removed from the guild, and the status of “Apostate” shall be pinned upon them.

We also urge other guilds and nations to prescribe similar enactments to assure the safety of the realm as a whole.

The man who witnesses his own life, that is to say his own inner disorder, cannot feel himself to be the heir of the distinguished men of history whose names he sees carved into the stones of antiquity.  If, in addition, he is a scholar, that is to say if he knows that he knows nothing, how could he believe himself justified in occupying this same sort of fame, and how could he even desire to do so?

The answer to these questions is very simple.  Since its foundation, the Mages Guild has been charged with the civic duty of providing the services of magic and scholasticism to the realm.  In this way, a proper knowledge of magic allows man, in order to experience more fully the ties of truth which bind him to the world, a renewed image of the world, with all its mysteries, and of himself placed within it among others.  These mysteries are in each of us, as in the magi.  What does he say of the relation between the soul and body, of material and metaphysical?  What does he teach of energy and matter?  What does he know of beauty or the harmony of the cosmos?  The magi is the man who wakes up and thinks.  And man contains silently within himself the paradoxes of the Void, because to be completely a man, it is necessary to be a little more and a little less than man.

    THE ARCANICUM

A set of ethical axioms, philosophies and precepts admonished and upheld to the highest degree by those of the Mages Guild.  To perform acts at variance with the Arcanicum is considered abominable to the eyes of the Mages Guild and ordinarily follows with appropriate retribution.  The Arcanicum can most accurately be divided into two sections: the School of Names and the School of Forms.  The former refers to pedagogical dictums of how and why knowledge of the arcane ought to be passed down from student to master.  The latter refers to what ends the arcane ought to be used by its practitioners.

    1. The use of void magic to gain power. This is a fallacy; There is always a cost, and the goodly and studious Sorcerers of the realm accept this cost humbly.

1a. The voidal connection poisons the body. It saps our physical strength. We are not fit for fighting, and thusly we shall defend our lives when necessary, and the realm in times of need.

1b. We should not meddle in the wars of the mundane, unless the opposing force threatens academia. Magi do no wage senseless wars, rather they dedicate their time to enhancing their mind.

    2. The use of voidal wrought skills to harm the innocent. Let not one mundane person think that all magi are their enemies.

2a. We shall not raise our hand against innocent people. The scholarly magus shall instead choose to serve as a beacon of wisdom for the mundane people, or simply opt not to associate with them.

2b. We shall reach out to the best of our abilities to our fallen colleagues. Those who have succumbed to the wicked path of a rogue magi. If they are beyond aid, we shall see that they do not ruin the minds of the future generations by whatever means necessary.

2c. We may choose to take on apprentices when we feel knowledgeable enough. It is greatly important to ensure that their intentions are righteous, lest they remain mundane. To teach one who lusts for power is to inadvertently harm them, for they will be bound to a quest destined to remain unfulfilled.

    3. The negligence of the void. To start the path of a proper mage, you must understand why we learn. From the void, we develope a plethora of studies. They will often bolster our capabilities in our chosen disciplines.

3a. Magi must practice their art in earnest, lest their ability wane. Even learned magi are susceptible to this. Therefore, through further practice and research into one’s discipline, we supplement our minds and remain on a path to success.

3b. Voidal temperance. We shall not overexert ourselves for the void can be dangerous. It’s power is vast, and attempting to harness too much of it will rend our bodies causing irreparable damage. A balance must be maintained.

3c. Our voidal proficiency is nothing to be ashamed of. Even though we take pride in our efforts, we mustn’t subject ourselves to the narrow-minds of the mundane people who seek to impede on our education. Therefore, we must avoid them when possible.

3d. The knowledge gained from Voidal practice is to be preserved. Therefore it is only just that we do not pervert our minds and bodies with the use of macabre magic, holy magic, or otherwise, for that threatens the integrity of knowledge itself. The study of these magics, however, is acceptable and recommended.

    THE COLLEGIUM MAGISTRATI

The Collegium Magistrati is the governing body of the Guild.  In its entirety it serves as a parliamentary council, voting upon important decisions and elections.  Members of the Collegium include all Archmagi as well as Adepti Veneratus, though they have considerably less voting power.  Any member of the Collegium Magistrati may call for the indictment and removal of another member by majority vote.

    Archmage Rector

The Archmage Rector oversees the primary administrative duties of the Guild.  This includes upkeep of Guild property, political relations, membership records, and presiding over the Collegium Magistrati.  The Archmage Rector may also select a Locum to serve as their personal assistant and surrogate in times of their absence.

    Current Archmage Rector: Kalgrimmor

    Archmage Scholarch

The Archmage Scholarch oversees the organization of tutelage amongst members of the Guild. They are charged with approving and keeping documents of those being trained in the arcane,  those teaching them, and upholding the dictums and pedagogical philosophies of the School of  Names.  It is also they who approve of the advancing of a Practicus to an Adeptus Minor upon the  request of their respective teacher.  The Archmage Scholarch may also select a Locum to serve as their personal assistant and surrogate in times of their absence.

A ritualized title given to the upholder of the philosophical and ideological sanctity of the Guild, namely through the Arcanicum as a whole.  In this way, they are charged with disciplining within the Guild for those acting against Arcanicum.  The Archmage Ipsissimus also works with a distinct and loose sect of magi known as magus logicus who are selected for being particularly knowing in the ways of esoteric philosophy and adjure themselves with its discussion among members of the Guild.

    Current Archmage Ipsissimus: Ambros

    The Archmagi Sectae

The Archmagi Sectae include all other archmagi of the Guild which lead specific sects or orders of the Ordo Arcana.  Those being: Archmage Hermeticus, Archmage Artificus, and Archmage Astrologicus.  They are below the Archmage Ipsissimus, Scholarch, and Rector in provisos of hierarchy.  It is also the responsibility of the Archmagi Sectae to uphold the School of Forms in their respective orders.

    THE ORDO ARCANA

The Ordo Arcana is the name of the generally given hierarchical structure of the Guild.  All members of the Guild, regardless of affiliation or duty, are given a ranking within the Ordo Arcana as a representation of relative skill or knowledge in their respective discipline.

    Archmage

The highest rank one can achieve within the ordo, the archmagi of the Guild are considered masters of their discipline and, thus, leaders.  Each Archmagi leads a particular sect of the Guild or has another specific duty pertaining to administration.  All Archmagi have a seat on the Collegium Magistrati.

    Adeptus

Adeptus are proficient in their respective disciplines and belong to a particular order within the Guild.  Thus, they have a breadth of duties they must carry out.  Within the rank of Adeptus there exists several other divisions of relative skill.

The Adeptus Veneratus, esteemed and senior members of the Guild, are granted the title of Veneratus for their loyalty and contributions to the Guild as a whole.

The Adeptus Majoris are accomplished members of the Guild who are capable of passing their knowledge on to other members.  The chief duty of the Adepti Majoris is to serve as Court Magi, advisors, tutors, and researchers.

The Adeptus Minor are members of the Guild who are expected to have become proficient in at least one arcane discipline.

    Practicus

The lowliest rank of Practicus is for students and apprentices of the Guild who are being trained by an Adeptus Majoris or some other senior member.  While not obligated to a particular order of the Guild yet, they often times carry out duties alongside their masters within their master’s order.

    SECTAE OF THE ORDO ARCANA

Upon reaching the rank of Adeptus Minor in the Ordo Arcana, members are expected to join an order to specialize their skills and carry out specific duties for the betterment of the realm.  Note that each order may have their own unique traditions and hierarchies and are beholden only to the Collegium Magistrati.

    The Artificum

The Order Artificum is charged with the duty of studying and constructing magical apparatuses which might prove useful to the Guild.  Through the wonders of Arcane Engineering and the study of such topics as enchanting and arcane metallurgy, the artificus serve as civil magicians to the realm.

    The Astrologicus

Magi of this sect, the astrologi, of the Order Astrologicus are primarily concerned with the study of realms beyond including, chiefly, the Void.  This, inevitably, leads to studying the non arcane arts such as the divine and the occult.  To, naturally, better understand their flaws and weaknesses.

    The Hermeticum

Those of the Order Hermeticum, otherwise known hermeticus, are of a more avant garde sect dedicated to the potential benefits of magic and its sister arts on the mortal form.  This, generally speaking, pertains to the medical uses of magic and, more notably, alchemy as well as the study of magical flora and fauna.

    THE VENATICUS

A separate entity from the Ordo Arcana, the Venaticus serve as the both shields of the Guild of Magi and charged with carrying out and enforcing the will of the Collegium Magistrati.  Both magi and mundanes alike may pledge themselves to defend the venerable Guild and uphold the Arcanicum.  So often it is not proper for practitioners of the high arts to partake in aggression, so it is the burden of the Venaticus to set aside pursuits of the mind to defend the Guild and its creed.

    APPLICATION

The Mages Guild reserves the right to deny any application without response.  Those novitiate magi that are deemed weak of character, found too dangerous to train, or not in alignment with the goals of the Guild will be denied.

    DUTIES & STRUCTURE

The Imperial Society does NOT exist to teach established forms of knowledge, but rather, advance the bounds of knowledge.  Thus, the Society is not a college or a university and does not accept students or offer professorships.  Chartered by the Imperial Crown, the Society exists to serve as not only a centre of philosophy for the Imperium, but also serve its nobility as trusted advisors and scholars.  In that sense, the Imperial Society is best described as an intellectual guild or research institution.

The only ranks given within the Imperial Society is that of Scholarch and Locum.  The Scholarch serves as nothing more than the organizer and public voice for the Society as well as overseer of the regular meetings held by the Society.  The Locum serves as the vice-Scholarch who overtakes Scholarchical duties should the Scholarch be absent.

The Society expects all members to be preeducated in any matters considered relevant, and capable of independent study, should they need to learn more.  There exists no “departments” or “sects” dividing the minds of the Society, but rather, a single, body of master scholars which work in tandem to complete singular research ventures efficiently and thoroughly.  Granted, the individual scholars are still encouraged to produce research of their own, on their own time.  Full members are given the honorary title of Doctor.

While the Society does not offer organized education to the masses of the Empire, select individuals may be given mentorships should they inquire with the members of the Society.  Granted, this on a per request basis.  Similarly, the Imperial Phrontistery may also hold public lectures and symposiums offering a forum for debate and free thought.

Presently, the Imperial Society is based within the aforementioned Imperial Phrontistery within the Orenian Capital of Adelburg.

    MEMBERSHIP

To become a Doctor of the Imperial Society is considered a venerable endeavor.  A brief listing of desired attributes for those wishing to join the Society are listed herein:

    • Has relevant preexisting publications or creations as proof of scholastic ability.

    • Has made a substantial contribution to the improvement of natural or philosophical knowledge.

    • Has appropriate synergy with the rest of the Society.

The origins of the Worshipful Society of Wizards lie in the Wizards’ Guild and W.I.Z. University (i.e. Wizarding Institution of Zapping) which was founded in the waning years of the continent of Anthos which was in turn founded from displaced members of the ancient Mages Guild.  The Guild and University remained irregularly active for approximately a century before fading into obscurity.  Members of the old Guild and University remained infrequently active until the former Chair-Wizard Ambros founded the Worshipful Society of Wizards.

Scholarch Ambros has retired as of Snow's Maiden, 1545 which left a void within our organization. Many joined because of this great wizard, but we urge those who did to stay within our ranks. With this loss, we also must look to our future and the direction of the Order as a whole.

Ambros had visions of grandeur, a world in which a magocracy could become established across the entire realm. This, in hindsight, is a goal which can not be accomplished. Instead, we have decided to turn our attention a more realistic goal. Progress and innovation. While during our initial start up period, our focus was on recruitment and making sure that our neophytes progressed into higher ranks upon finding suitable teachers to guide them. While we consider the teaching of a new generation of mages important and plan on focusing on this, we also need to ensure that we do not plateau. Therefore, emphasis on research will be one of our top priorities.

With that said, the following will and is currently being put into action. The current council will be downsized, as it is currently bloated. The current ranks of the mages will change to simply having a first and second order. The first order is comprised of Archmages, Adeptus Major and Minor, teachers and skilled mages. The archmage position is no different from the Adeptus Major position, aside from distinguishing who is at the top of their field. The second order has Neophytes and Practicus', those seeking to learn and those currently learning.

To the former members of the now defunct high council, you are welcome to see if you can join the current council. However, we seek those who are active and can actually accomplish their tasks as leaders. Many of the archmages failed in the former, hence this change being included in the reforms.

Thirdly, a new research sect will be created, made up of managers, researchers, and testers. Everyone part of the guild is automatically able to test research, but only those within the first order are capable of becoming researchers or research managers. There may be an exception to this, if the person shows a capability for the position. Finally, the Order of Magi will shift their main base to Sanctuary, while retaining the island previously purchased and the Caliphate guild hall. Both of the latter locations will be refitted for another use once that purpose has been decided. In return for housing our main base in Sanctuary, we will be given access to laboratories which are currently under construction which gives us more room in general.

Those already part of the Order and who have joined the Sanctuary branch will not have their ranked changed unless they were part of the third order. In which case, they will either be moved to the seeker position which means they have not learned anything or the student position once a teacher is found. Your membership is valued so this letter serves as a means to keep everyone in the loop. In order to keep track of those who are actively around, we advise that you reply to our letter with a response along the following: “I, (name), currently ranked as a (rank), hereby acknowledge the changes that the Order of Magi is undergoing." If you have any qualms, feel free to either add that in to the response or seek out Katari Stirling, Eliza, or Guarger."

[!] Each letter is signed by the following:

    - Katari Stirling

    - Eliza

    - Guarger

    - Laethis Izalith

    - Beltran

    - Ceruberr

    - Ayche Raven'kor

    OOC/tl;dr

    Spoiler

Ambros retired and we’re downsizing the council, creating a team for research rp, making our main base in sanctuary, and rearranging the ranks. Guild thread will be edited shortly once we find an FM to fix something.

Please contact Scholarch Ambros for more information and further instruction to determine rank within the Order and the Guild Hall.

  17. Notice

Due to the amount of resources and time required to construct the High Council's center of operation, Bellus Turris, the Council has decided it in the Order's best interest to construct Guild Halls in patron cities across Vailor so that teaching, research, and community can begin, and not have to wait on the tedious Turris.

As of present, the following Guild Halls have been constructed:

    The Al-Whakrah Guild

Overseen by Guild Master Guargar Tsouderous

    The Sanctuary Guild

Overseen by Guild Master Katari Stirling

[See the Main Page for more information regarding Guilds]

These Guilds will largely operate independently, united and overseen by the High Council.  Thusly, it is within these Guilds prospective mages will learn their art, and the more adept will carry out their research.  New applications will involve choosing which Guild the mage desires to be associated with, the respective Guild Master will then accept or deny said application.

Individual Guilds are expected to operate closely, and communally.  Guild Masters will serve as the authority of their Guild and have most all administrative power over said Guild unless overruled by the High Council.

Construction of Bellus Turris will slow then, to focus on producing state of the art Guild Halls.  In that regard, Bellus Turris will serve more as a meeting place for the High and Low Councils as well as archives when it is complete.

    ---

ALL STUDENTS WHO HAVE APPLIED RECENTLY [IN THE LAST FEW PAGES] PLEASE REVISE YOUR APPLICATIONS TO ANSWER THE NEW QUESTION [FOUND ON THE MAIN PAGE] SO THAT A GUILD MASTER MIGHT ACCEPT YOU.

    -The High Council

  18. Notice

The Order of Magi is now accepting students, Neophytes who are not already being taught by a member of the Order.  That being said, the High Council would ask that all students (Neophytes) who have applied and been passed over reapply to confirm interest.
