  1. 7th of Snow’s Maiden, 1600.

A young woman took to the streets, her pale, shaking hands clutching a small piece of paper. The attire she wore indicated she did not plan on staying out in the cold for long, but nevertheless, she regretted the choice to underdress.

She climbed the steps up to the platform slowly, looking out over the empty square. Her chest heaved, unused to inhaling the frigid cold air. When she made it to the top, she unrolled the scrap of paper she was holding, reading its contents aloud.

It is my great pleasure to announce that our very own Floris van Loden has won the election of 1599 for Maer. No one opposed him, so he won by default. May God bless him and his term.

The now empty square was crowded with people, an unnatural feat given the circumstances. The woman did not stay to observe, however. She dashed down off the stage and into her home, safe from the cold and conflict Haense imminates.

  2. 14th of Malin’s Welcome, 1599.

A letter sat on the table, a name scrawled on one of its folded sides.

    Amelie

The letter was picked up immediately by to whom it was addressed and read through hastily. After the contents were skimmed through, it was thrown in the air, floating gently to the floor where it rested for some time.

The next time it was disturbed was days later, for the haste in which it was read had left out vital details to the important matter it concerned. Once it was read again it was shoved in a satchel, and carried into the freezing cold streets of Saint Karlsburg.

Its owner was a youthful young woman, barely of legal age, newly to a seat of power within the city. Her cheeks quickly flushed pink as the cold nipped at her exposed skin, the only thing separating her from the deathly cold was a thin overcoat. Nevertheless, she made her way to the raised platform in the square, pulling out the same letter that had been sent to her mere days before.

A crisp, sweet voice rang through the square, bouncing off the walls alleyways of the city, swelling in size and volume at every word.

Though the re-election of Lukas Vanir as Maer has brought, yet again, nothing but prosperity and wealth to the city of Saint Karlsburg, the administration calls for another election. Those who consider themselves capable of tackling such a task, come forward or do not complain. To run, you must be a resident of this blessed city, and announce your intentions to run by the end of our current year, 1599.

The woman paused, flipping the length of paper over to read a brief afterthought,

Lukas Vanir will not be running again, as he has been promoted to the admirable position of Lord Chancellor. As such, Floris van Loden temporarily assumed the role until the arrival of this election.

She stepped off the platform, making a beeline to the warmth of the tavern to meet with a dear friend. As soon as she disappeared from sight, buzz and interest in the new election spread citywide. If it wasn’t heard directly, it was passed along through gossip and chatter.

Again. You're missing the point. The entire reason I posted that was because of a joke. I'm fully supportive of the lore as long as it doesn't devolve into another inactive-player group that just takes up space on the map.

It's called mineman for a reason. Go support some feminist-player group.

Here's the thing. You said a "Panther is an animal."

Is a genetic modification? Yes. No one's arguing that.

As someone who is a scientist who studies cats, I am telling you, specifically, in science, no one calls panthers animals. If you want to be "specific" like you said, then you shouldn't either. They're not the same thing.

If you're saying "cat family" you're referring to the taxonomic grouping of Pantherinae, which includes things from Pumas to Cougars to Lions.

So your reasoning for calling a Panther an animal is because random people "call the black ones panthers?" Let's get Lynx and Cheetahs in there, then, too.

Also, calling someone a human or an ape? It's not one or the other, that's not how taxonomy works. They're both. A panther isn't an animal and a member of the Pantherinae family. But that's not what you said. You said a panther is an animal, which is not true unless you're okay with calling all members of the cat family 'non-existing animals', which means you'd call , Bobcats, and Garfield non-existing, too. Which you said you don't.

It's okay to just admit you're wrong, you know?

this has nothing to do with the post: you could've just not
