You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your amulet—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.” "I'm here to find my destiny." A young but strong man, Atrus worked in his fathers blacksmith shop growing up. He came from a poor home, but always aspired to be more. "One day, I took a wrong turn when gathering stones from a nearby quarry, when I stumbled upon a strange man making odd marks on the ground. When I asked him what he was doing, he ignored me and continued about his work. I persisted and continued to ask him why he was making these marks. He told me that he was working with the beyond to gain power. I was getting bored of the monotony of my blacksmiths life, so I was instantly captivated by the idea of something beyond. He told me about this dimension called 'The Mansus' that could grant us unbelievable knowledge and power. In awe of chances that lie ahead, I asked if I could assist him in any way, but he informed me that he preferred to work alone, and that even if he wanted help, that I was not yet ready. However, he told me that I could be of great use if I brought him back a certain type of mushroom found in the nearby woods. These mushrooms only grew under decomposing logs, so it was no easy task. After about 2 hours, I managed to gather the two mushrooms that he requested. When I returned, he nodded solemnly and responded 'perhaps you could be of use.' before quickly taking them from me to continue his task."
"When he finished, he grabbed my hand and placed it on the rune he had created, then lowered his head for a short moment. He looked back at me and stated that perhaps I could one day be worthy of having my eyes opened by the Mansus to see the truth. He gave me this amulet *Shows which the amulet hanging around my neck* and told me that when I was ready, to seek him out. He gave no location. It wasn't long after that I decided to seek after what my heart desired, so a few short weeks later, I set out to meet him again, and have been searching for him ever since. That's why I'm here." Despite his optimism, Atrus's trek has brought him many challenges and trials, and there are still many yet to come. However despite it all, the sense of adventure, the drawing power of truth, and the thought of a life greater than the one that he left has kept Atrus optimistic over the past 3 months since striking out on his own.
