What is Roleplaying?: Roleplaying is putting yourself into a character's shoes  and immersing yourself into their story. It's like acting but 73 times more fun

What is Metagaming?: Using information your character did not aquire in a roleplay situation to assist said character in future situations. (Ex: someone messages you on Skype saying their character is being attacked in roleplay and you log onto the server in character to go help them)

What is Powergaming?: Imposing actions or consequences upon others in roleplay without taking their own actions or input into consideration. Another form of powergaming is creating characters that are "over-powered" or don't seem to have any weaknesses or flaws.

Biography:

Esmae was born in the outskirts of Lin'sulan on the Isles of Vailor in the year 1563. She lived here with her mother and father until their migration to the Isles of Axios at the age of nine. Upon their arrival in the new territory, Esmae's parents decided to establish their new home in the Dominion of Malin, but refrained from joining any large settlement. Instead, they errected a small cabin in  the lush forests of eastern Malin. It is here that Esmae spent the next eleven years of her life. Her mother and father had eached belonged to a different Seed prior to being wed and were devout followers of the Aspects. As such, they passed down their beliefs and knowledge of nature to their daughter. Esmae joined her father on short hunting expeditions in the woods surrounding her home. It is he who taught her how to carve and use her own bow, as  well as how to prepare all kinds of meats. Esmae aided her mother in maintaining their small yet diverse garden. It is she who taught her which plants to eat and which plants she should never touch, as well as how to make a splint using branches and vines. 

When Esmae celebrated her twentieth birthday, her parents told her it was time for her to pursue new adventures. She had never been pressured to choose between her mother or father's Seed as they wished for her to pick one for herself, even if it was dissimilar to either of theirs. Having inherited her parents' love and respect for Cerridwen and Cernunnos, and wanting to continue the Mali'ame tradition of commiting oneself to a Seed, Esmae decided she would leave her secluded home and journey to Linandria.  Here she may be able to learn from skilled healers and hergologists in order to someday become one herself, and hopefully join her very own Seed. A few weeks later, she had packed her belonging and was prepared for the exciting and daunting journey ahead of her. She embraced her parents, promissing them she would return with knowledge and a new ilmyumier, before heading off into the forest. 

Personality Traits: 

Independent: knows how to take care of herself

Kind: is always willing to help someone in need, often prioratising other's needs over her own

Patient: can stay focused on a task for hours at a time, not easily frustrated 

Curious: A good thing when it means  learning new skills or reading about new topics, not such a good thing when it means snooping around other peoples' business

Easily Manipulated: Due to her kind spirit and dislike of confrontation, she is easy to take advantage of 

Awkard at Times:  Because she was mostly raised away from civilisation, her social skills may be a little rusty

Likes: All forms of nature, Reading, Helping others, Sweet foods

Dislikes: Very noisy and/or crowded areas, Those who deliberately harm another being without reason, Cold climates, Confrontation

Ambitions: By the time she reaches cultural maturity, Esmae aspires to become a skilled healer by gaining  extensive knowledge of plants and herbs. She has thought about pursuing druidry, but remains uncertain. She also wishes to join a Seed.

Just kidding, go for it, I do believe you have to read some lore about them prior to joining though. I am certain you can ask someone for help, even me, if you're so inclined..

Well first thing you'll notice is that the races on LoTC is in a lot of ways different to that of Lord of the rings, so elves are a lot more reserved and a lot more racist and definately not the friendliest bunch to outsiders. Basically think Lord of the rings but all of their attributes taken to an extreme. Now as someone that used to play a high elf I can definately say there are solid reasons for this RPely. Just keep in mind that if you pick a High Elf you'll more than likely end up RPing with only elves unless you want to end up being questioned for your purity. Then again who knows there are always a few members of each race accepted into the elven city.

Hi there! I've just started exploring everything LotC has to offer and thought I'd introduce myself before I submit my application and (hopefully!) join you guys in RP! 

My name is Unitatle! (Before you ask, a unitatle is unicorn-potato-turtle hybrid, basically my spirit animal.) I'm 19 years old, and come from a place up North where the air hurts your face during the winter and where it snows for 9 months out of the year (seriously it's snowing right now). I enjoy drawing even though I'm not great at it, writing, games (I'm obsessed with Breath of the Wild right now, like what a masterpiece), and travelling.

I'm nearly done my first year in university where I'm working on a Computer Science degree! Exams actually start on Saturday, so I /should/ be studying for the next little while before I get too engrossed in the RP here. I RPed for a year or two during my high school days and am really looking forward to get back into it! I've always been a fan of elves and would like to have a High Elf character on this server, so if anyone has any tips/advice to share about playing them (or anything else really!) I'd really appreciate it!
