[Blood Magic] [TA] BemoBlue - Accepted Teacher Applications - The Lord Of The Craft

Unlike Evo said it sounds theoretically powerful, but because under the redlines it says it doesn't cause harm most people just power through it with only a few people freaking out. In my experience it's been primarily used to attempt to freak people out long enough for a blood mage to slip away from a situation or to take revenge on annoying relatives.

In all honesty it could be a little stronger so if you are using it to freak people out to get away you aren't just relying on the others around you to rply react to it, but you know that's just my humble opinion.

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

 Voidal magic is the harnessing of voidal energy in the form of mana to be used to perform various feats of magic. During the connection process a voidal mage will awaken their abilities and connection to the void by effectively making a small voidal tear in their soul. By pulling energy from the void and say for example being a pyromancer or fire evocationist would imagine flame, and picture its properties in order to transform the energy into flame. 

However practicing the voidal arts does not come free of issues, as all long term mages suffer from voidal poisoning which weakens their bodies. Making them too weak to hold large weapons.  

As for voidal fire itself it reacts to the world much in the same way mundane fire would, however the initially made voidal fire can not be maintained, and will disappear when the mage’s concentration ends, however any fires caused by it will continue as mundane fires.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

Other subsects of voidal magic include Earth evocation, Air evocation, Water evocation, conjuration or life evocation, translocation and transfiguration. Most evocations being the same in the sense it is the use of voidal energy changed into an Element. Whilst conjuration is mana being concentrated into the form of an animal for brief durations. Translocation being the use of voidal portals, whilst transfiguration is the practice of enchantments.

Wenping closed his eyes, as he established connection. A saffron mist began to swirl about his left hand. As he opened his eyes he’d reveal eyes with a soft yellow glow. The man held out a hand as he began to picture the flickering of flame in the form of a flower. 

(Cast)

Suddenly a small flame flickered to life in the palm of his hand. Bursting forth into the form of a lilly engulfed in flame, fiery petals shimmering casting a dim but warm light in the room.

[Connecting Emote]

“Now the lesson of today will be a flame trial, it is of vital importance that you focus lest you or I get injured.” Wenping would say to his student. He then held out a hand, his eyes lighting up with a soft yellow glow, as he began to connect to the void.

He let a small flame spring to life in the palm of his hand, as he began envisioning the direction in which he wished the flame to go.

The Elf cast the trail in a direct line in front of him, a small line of tiny flame barely the size of a candle. About four meters in length.

As he continued to focus the wall of flames grew from a tiny line of candles to a wall of flame a meter high which flickered and danced on the stone floor of the courtyard. 

Wenping stepped back admiring his handy work, his shoulders tense from the fear of the heat of the flame. 

“Now it’s your turn. Be sure to picture the shape and height of the flame trail you wish to create.”  The Elf reminded his student.

If a student powergames, as perusal with any magic, it should be pointed out and corrected as soon as seen or notified. If the student corrects themselves all is right with the world. However if the student continues to powerd game, in spite of three or four warnings from me. I will have to inform a lore team member so further action can be taken.

         Blood Magic

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

 The ancient art of blood magic, though it used to be far more powerful, spent a brief time in dark ignorance after the influence of Malghourn. These days blood magic was relearned primarily through the Siliti, but it’s original origins are as a whole unknown.

Bloodmagics primary source, much like mana to voidal mages, is the energy found within blood known as Genus. Genus can be put to practise through use of runes and runic circles, generally involving complex rituals depending on the desired effect. Blood used in these rituals has to be fresh (Meaning blood gathered for a ritual can not be older than 3 ooc hours) and typically come from a descendant or creature which possesses a soul. Animals do not possess the vital ingredient genus and thus their blood can not be used in rituals.

As stated before different descendants and creatures possess different amounts of genus within them, amounts generally being counted in units. For example a regular descendant only has 3 units of genus, whilst a High Elf will possess 4, as do voidal mages and epiphytes. Creatures such as Azdrazi and Frost Witches possess 5 units, whilst Siliti have a total of 6. After loss of genus after being bled a victim or blood mage may feel fatigue and the effects of blood loss but the more they lose the worse it will get. If a victim is emptied of genus they will fall unconscious due to shock and blood loss and expire shortly thereafter if not helped.

The amount of genus used will depend heavily on the ritual, most rituals usually taking more than one blood mage to perform. As most rituals typically become safer to perform the more blood mages you have, and the higher tier said blood mages are. For every Silit involved in a ritual +1 can be added to the roll of a ritual by an ST +2 for every 4th and 5th tier blood mage, and finally a +1 for every 2nd and 3rd tier blood mage. What this means is say a ritual of Quiet is performed by five blood mages, one of which is a tier 5 siliti, two tier 5 blood mages, and two tier 2 apprentices, when the ST goes to roll they would be adding a +9 to the roll. 

All rituals require use of runes, most runes with the exception of blood magic's blood bending abilities. In terms of the types of rituals a blood mage can perform there are creation, summoning, elemental and force rituals. Creation rituals revolve mostly around creating new objects through blood magic, or creating silence. Summoning is fairly obvious. Elemental rituals heavily involve the use of elemental runes to perform rituals such as Ensorcell Flesh and are usually used for more aesthetic purposes, though ensorcell material can have some combat effects. Finally Force rituals are the most varied in their uses and utilizing force runes can do anything from keeping a voidal spell unwavering in its existence to sealing over wounds. 

Long term use of blood magic does cause irreparable damage to the body, shortening the blood mage’s lifespan to 2 irl years if their natural life span would be longer, as well as does psychological damage to the user. Their body will become more prone to disease, and be washed of it’s colour. Naturally due to blood magic’s nature it can only be learned by those who possess genus, so atronachs, sorvians, ghosts, liches and golems and the like.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

The edge of Wenping’s kaiken bit into his palm as he sliced the blade across his hand. Once enough blood had sufficiently collected in his palm he’d dip his finger in the ichor, using it to paint the ritual circle on the ground. Scribing the Rune for mortality within the circle and the rune of fire in the upper right crescent of said mortality rune.

Wenping then dripped two measures of blood onto the circle. Once completed the Elf placed the spear over the rune of fire, before stepping back. He then knelt down by the circle, pressing his bloodied hand upon the outer line of the ritual.  As the activation of the circle began, the blood on the floor came to life with a dim glow.

(Assuming the roll is good and the ritual is successful) 

As the ritual came to a close, the spear on the ground began to sizzle with glowing ember like veins showing the ritual to be a success.

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

“To begin with I am going to teach you the simple ability of scabbing. It can be used to seal over wounds, and generally clean up after performing rituals. It is of  vital importance to quickly and efficiently clean up after rituals to keep our art a secret.” Wenping explained to his student, as he hovered the blade of his kaiken over his palm. “Now for the sake of learning to perform this ritual, make a shallow cut across your palm. And don’t stab yourselves, this ability can’t save you from death, it merely stops bleeding if the cut is shallow and non fatal.”
He’d cut open a small wound on his palm, holding it up for his students to see. “Now normally we would likely end up with injuries like this from performing ritual rites, now if you just place your hand over your wound and focus.” The Elf placed his hand over the wound.

A small red mist began to form about the cut as it sealed over into a fresh scab. 

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If one of my students power games first I will point out exactly what it is they are power gaming, how they power gamed and then explain the limits of that particular blood magic ritual or ability. Hopefully the student will correct their behavior, as everyone has slip ups when they start something new or perform a task they have never done. 

If they continue to power game, then it might be a matter of reporting them to a lore team member but hopefully and ideally it won’t come to that.

The Official Yong Ping Legal System

To ensure a well balanced and fair justice system within the Jade State of Yong Ping, and the previous laws being not only outdated, but also not regulated in respect to the new Jade Constitution, a new court system in addition to newly revised laws will be integrated in order to ensure the security and prosperity within the borders of the Jade State of Yong Ping. 

Under enforcement of this newly revised legal code, lesser crimes committed against the laws of the Jade State of Yong Ping are to be dealt with by on the spot issuing of punishment by an Officer of the Yong Ping Army. An Officer issuing punishment may prior to issuing punishment seek legal advice from a Judge or Lawyer, however this is not necessary.

The aforementioned method of punishment and criminal identification may only be carried out and issued if the committed crime has been witnessed by three or more people. If the individual who has been issued a punishment by an Officer of the Yong Ping Army feels they have been wrongly accused or that their case was handled unfairly, they can place a complaint to the Ministry of Justice to receive reparations or an appellate Court date if it is found to be necessary. 

The following laws and regulations are directly tied to a point system, whereby the rights and privileges of convicted individuals can be affected by how many crimes one has committed and the degree of the crime to ensure the safety of further citizens of the Jade State of Yong Ping. All citizens of the jade state will have a record kept of the points tied to their name, age and address. 

Furthermore, if any individual wishes to rehabilitate themselves and not suffer the consequences of their actions after the issued punishment, a system for the removal of points has been introduced. 

To distinguish minor offenders from major and criminal offenders, the following regulations and laws are organized into three different subtypes.

Minor crimes: 1 point added to the file of the individual (Are typically punished by fines or beatings)

Intermediate crimes: 2 points added to the file of the individual (Typical punishments brandings, beatings or fines)

Severe crimes: 3 points added to the file of the individual (Brandings, fines and/or non-lethal removal or organs or limbs) 

Variable crimes: Those that would be deemed treasonous, or possibly automatically five points. But can be contended by the Council. (Almost always execution or exile but may vary case by case and is determined by Chancellor or Zhu)

Crimes Against the Individual 

Impersonation - 

• Maofan Nng: The act of one individual imitating another individual of the common folk, for nefarious and unlawful purposes. 

• Maofan Jit: The act of one individual imitating another individual of State or Military rank. This may be considered as treasonous action depending on the rank impersonated. 

Attempted Assault -

• Maofan Sa: The attempted harm or injury of another individual through methods of an unarmed nature.

• Maofan Nng: The attempted harm or injury of another individual through methods involving a weapon. 

Assault -

• Maofan Sa: The act of physically attacking a person, which results in no permanent damage to the attacked individual. 

• Maofan Nng: The act of physically attacking a person, which results in lasting damage to the attacked individual.

• Maofan Jit: The act of physically attacking a person, which results in permanent damage to the attacked individual. 

Kidnapping -

• Maofan Nng: The intentional and willful abduction, confining and chaining or otherwise restraining of another individual without actually causing any physical harm to said person.

• Maofan Jit: The intentional and willful abduction, confining and chaining or otherwise restraining of another individual, which leads to unintentional physical harm to said person.

• Maofan Jit: The intentional and willful of abduction, confining and chaining or otherwise restraining another individual, with intention to physically harm said person, or having intentionally caused harm to said individual. 

Mutilation -

• Maofan Sa: The act of removing teeth, fingers, toes, eyes or tongue of an individual through negligence. 

• Maofan Nng: The act of knowingly and willfully removing teeth, fingers, toes, eyes or tongue of an individual or through negligence removing limbs and organs or otherwise doing permanent damage to another individual. 

• Maofan Jit: The act of knowingly and willfully removing limbs, organs or otherwise doing permanent damage to another individual. 

Torture -

• Maofan Nng: The act of individuals not authorized by the council performing long lasting and willing physical damage and torment to another individual over an extended period of time.

Manslaughter - 

• Maofan Sa: The taking of the life of another through pure negligence or accident, with no premeditated plans or intentions for the death of the deceased individual.

• Maofan Sa: The act of taking an individual’s life in the heat of the moment, either as a result of coercion, threats to the individual taking the life, or high strung emotional passions.

Slander-

• Maofan Sa: The willful spreading of false information, about an individual/company without intent to harm the person/company’s reputation or standing within the greater community.

• Maofan Sa: The convincing or manipulation of making other individuals to commit crime. 

Resisting Arrest -

• Maofan Sa: The individual has attempted to run or obscure themselves from the YPA (Yong Ping Army), or other state authority figures after having had a warrant issued for their arrest or been placed under arrest. 

• Maofan Nng: The individual has attempted to avoid arrest, and or punishment by the YPA (Yong Ping Army), or other state authority figures by violent means. 

• Discrimination -

• Maofan Sa: Any discriminatory, verbal or physical action taken against an individual on the grounds of their race, descendant or otherwise, culture, preference of partner or gender. This does not include on the grounds of religion or individuals of an undead or tainted nature. 

Deviancy -

• Maofan Sa: One or more individuals performing acts in public which would be considered indecent, or not appropriate for the general public. 

Adultery -

•  Maofan Sa: The action of an already wed individual, copulating with someone who is not their spouse, without the knowledge and/or expressed consent of said spouse.

• Maofan Sa: The willful possession of any illegal substances, literature or items found on someone's person, and/or in their abode.

• Maofan Jit: Offering mina, items or other rewards to an individual in return for their silence, or dishonesty.

• Maofan Jit: The crime of preventing the Council, YPA or other authorities of the State from enacting justice, capturing criminals or state business. 

Mendacity -

• Maofan Nng: The willing and knowing hiding of information from the State, during an interrogation or otherwise. 

• Maofan Jit: The willing and knowing hiding of information from the State, under oath or during a trial. 

Insurrection - 

• Maofan Jit: The act of inciting others to indulge or perform rebellion, or treason either outright or in secret through action, word of mouth, written word or any other method. 

State Homicide - 

• Maofan Jit: The murder or manslaughter of a member of the Council of the Jade State. 

Treason -

• Maofan Nng: Knowingly acting against the Jade State of Yong Ping through disobeying the State’s wishes, disloyalty or crimes which would otherwise harm the State as a whole. 

• Maofan Jit: Knowingly engaging in espionage, armed conflicts or rebellions against the state.Or working for, and aiding those who are enemies of the Jade State. Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

The Musin are a small race of people that vaguely resemble, house or field mice. They stand at about 1'8" to 2'6" ft, having the same colour pallet range as ordinary mice, being black, tan, white, chocolate, fawn, with a range of patterning. Though most of their body is covered in fur with the exception of their hands feet and tail, which can be longer or shorter depending on the individual. The eyes of Musin tend to to be black, though on the rare occasion a Musin may have red eyes. Other parts of Musin biology includes a large pair of front teeth or incisors, again similar to that of a mouse. 

The incisors can grow to be quite uncomfortable if you worn down consistently, this is often done through diet or chewing on wood. The diet of a Musin consists largely of nuts and berries, as they are lactose intolerant, and too small to hunt most bigger creatures. Though they do have a preference for sweeter foods. 

The Musin are a fairly short lived as far as races go, with Musin physically maturing at 12 and being considered adults at 15, most only living as long as 70. Though the oldest Musin recorded lived until the age of 78. As a small race, they are one of the weaker races and can get injured from merely trying to hold weapons made for larger descendants. A Musin can have from between 2-3 pups in a litter, though these pups are born blind and hairless, over the next few months they quickly grow to being more akin to a descendant toddler.  Interesting abilities of the Musin are their incredible hearing, with their big ears. Being able to hear to higher pitched noises, as well as having good vision for in the dark. Though vision is good in the dark, Musin vision can be somewhat lacking in the day. 

Musin due to their small size and lack of strength, are pacifists out of necessity. However what they lack in strength they make up for in terms of their intelligence. The Musin are naturally intelligent and curious people. This intelligence, combined with their culture, encourages the recycling of items to be broken down to be used for other items which are more necessary.  Another part of Musin mentality is their desire to steal, many of them turning to thievery. This isn't malicious, it is more their desire to continue to recycle and reuse, seeing some items as being of better use than just lying around. 

Finally Musin are a very hygienic race, as they are short-lived and value making their life longer, they keep their hygiene in an attempt to avoid disease. 

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look? 

Hazel is a black Musin with white fox patterning, and longish fur. His eyes are the average black of most Musin, the timid lad stands at about 1'5" and is still growing. He has large ears, and long whiskers, as well as a normal hairless tail. He wears a large sweater knitted from wool, which was taken from unraveling jumper and hats re-purposing the wool. His trousers, again recycled cloth made to fit him, and a large pair of glasses.  The boy often carries a small satchel around with him, with which he can carry items to sketch and document the world around him with.
