Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:
The Hou-Zi originate from the primates in Axios from the jungle Isle of Asul. They were chosen by Metzli after searching for seven years and seven days for a beast race to uplift and turn into a race that would rival Elves and Men. The first primate to be uplifted by Metzli was the most powerful ape in the jungle who had a harem and ate before all other primates. This primate was to be known as Hou-Shen, the immortal emperor. Hou-Shen was subject to numerous types of magic imposed onto him by Metzli, ultimately turning him into what resembles the current Hou-Zi. Metzli asked for his upmost obedience from Hou-Shen in acting as her vessel, and in return for it Metzli gave Hou-Zhen the power to uplift the other primates of Asul, creating the first generation of Hou-Zi.
The Hou-Zi consist of three different sub-races.
Laobai-Zhu: They are the most common Hou-Zi and usually have brown fur and are known to be the most adaptable of the three Hou-Zi. Their lifespan ranges from 80 to 100 years.
Fei-Zhu: A subrace like baboos. Fei-Zhu are known to have a wide color palette. Their fur and face being two garish, contrasting colors. They are the smallest of the Hou-Zi, ranging anything between 5’ to 6’ and are the most nimble as a result. Their lifespan ranges from 150 to 250 years.
Hei-Zhu: The biggest of the Hou-Zi, Hei-Zhu closely resemble gorillas. Their fur is generally black. They are the largest Hou-Zi, standing at a height of 6’5” to 7’ tall. Their lifespan ranges from 250 to 300 years.
The Hou-Zi follow two major religions, Shen-Jiao and Hua-Jiao. Shen-Jiao practices worship of the Monkey King Hou-Shen and his sons as immortal beings living in the heavenly realm. Shen-Jiao also focus on worship of the ancestors. Hua-Jiao closely resembles Buddhism with its practice of the eightfold path, ultimately looking to gain enlightenment.
