Lysandre was born in Marna to Edmund and Martha Knause in 1628. Lysandre grew up in his father's smith's shop in Senntisten. As such, many of his foundation memories come from the rich art and culture of the city. There he was apprenticed and grew to be a master smithy, taking his father's place producing fine armor, weapons, and riding gear for nobility in the Kingdom of Marna. Though, he is largely unknown to his patrons, he grew to be content with his place in the city, and was satisfied with the work he did.
Like his parents, Lysandre became a devout Canonist, with a particular reverence for the virtue of piety. Unlike his parents, however, he took an interest in historical texts of the Holy Orenian Empire. Many months into his studies, he experienced what he calls a, "holy vision from the one true God." Lysandre claims that he was instructed to leave his things, all of them, and to go out to the world outside of the city to spread the Canonist faith. Without hesitation, Lysandre took to the street and made his way out of the city to become a servant of God. With him he brought a light set of armor from the smith's shop, rations and camping equipment, and a humble sword with which to defend himself if need be.
