  3. After spending some time speaking with Rylleah and Skana at the Tahorran docks, Aesilnoth returned home and submitted a public reply. Having been given the letter to read by its intended.

"Quillian Csarathaire, I must commend you on the bold acceptance to a duel of honor against a boy with now a single eye. To openly assault a citizen of Elvenesse and maim him during a druidic moot no less. Is it your belief that the laws do not apply to you? Why so? It was not even a decade prior you were banished from this place. And yet you and the Viper have acted in such a way that is impertinent against the Indor Tiran.

So I say this, as a protector of this land. If you, Quillian Csarathaire step foot here again with intentions of an honor duel, then shall be your opponent. Shame on you for maiming a boy who simply spoke his mind. This is a land of free elves, Quillian.

Know this, Ichor Druid. If you come here for a duel your spine will be shattered against the rocks and you will die without eyes, ears, or a tongue. You will traverse the underworld blind, deaf, and dumb and all the dead will know the name Quillian the fool.

Do not make a fool of yourself in my beloved cihi again.

    Signed,
    Aesilnoth Tundrak."

  4. A blinded Snow Elf received word whilst isolated within a stone citadel. His brow furrowing as a wave of anguish found it's way through him. Letting out an exhausted sigh. "You were a good friend, Peter Baldwin. I will regret not paying a final visit. You have earned your place in your afterlife my friend, of that I have no doubt." Afterward taking a momentary pause of contemplation. Untying the blindfold from his eyes, he'd remain isolated and brooding within a prison of his own mind.

But your torch IS NOT REQUIRED TO RP. So its a completely irrelevant argument in relation to vortex to start with.

Its literally just a personal thing that you want, for entirely non-rp reasons, to light up outside your house. Buy a torch. beg for one from someone ooc. its literally a ******* torch. Its less than meaningless. Spend as much or as little time on obtaining it as you want to. I dont see nations spending mina on torches. Fortunately, as players, we are players. We are not nations.

You pay the bandits with whatever you have to pay them with! Give them mina, give them resources. If I was robbed IRL and I had no money. I WOULD TELL THEM I HAD NO MONEY. In my RP server when faced with a problem in rp...I RP TO RESOLVE IT.

Just because things aren't "required" doesn't mean they can't be utilized. Roleplay doesn't "require" a mineman server, but we all utilize it because we can, do we not?

What if I needed a torch so I could explore a dark cave. What immersion is added to my RP if I just "RP" having an imaginary torch or lamp or whatever it may be, but everything is just dark?

    Like?

Well the first thing I would do is see if anyone will trade or sell me torches. because I understand how a community works, I dont HAVE to do everything by myself.

But if you refuse to work with other people...you can mine coal with a wooden pick, craftable with 5 pieces of wood, which can be obtained at any single warp hub easily without an axe by hand via "scraping" mechanic. Or you could buy a pick, or buy resources to make a pick, or see if someone will give you wood for a pick...or you know, a thousand different things. But whatever, lets assume there is no way of buying anything or interacting with other players to resolve this issue. So you get your wood, you make a wooden pick, you go to the mines and get your coal, etc.

Okay, youre on the road and you get attacked by bandits. Damn, unlucky. Unfortunately your character isnt a fighter, but they can go to pvp and run the hell away? Or you pay the bandits to leave you alone.

Seems like totally fair RP to me.

Okay now I want you to reread everything you just said. And REMEMBER, this is for crafting a single minecraft torch which is once again 1 stick and 1 coal

It shouldn't need to be a 25+ minute process to make a torches.

No one should need to find someone to sell them the things necessary to make a single torch

You shouldn't have to go someone to RPly buy a single torch

Mina itself is made too important to nations to spend on a single torch

You're on the road as an unarmed and non fighting individual. So you go to pvp and run away. Yeah, this is called a "Fight or flight" response. Typically people will fight or "run the hell away", when faced with such an issue. And what exactly are you paying the bandits with? If you're above a margin of intelligence and have any mina you have in a bank, that's not an option. Otherwise you are attempting to pay bandits with the materials that they are now already taking from you.

What areas of RP? Combat, sure. Which as addressed, you can buy from other people. And you can also not take part in combat. Other than weapons and armor, what is locked behind Vortex?

Or you consider that as Flora

the baker, it makes no sense for you to make all your own weapons and armor and tools? Or as a hunter, it might make sense for you to make your own arrows, but not to make armor and swords. So you buy them from the blacksmith. The blacksmith makes a sale, you stimulate the economy,  you get your tools or whatever you need from the blacksmith, tailor, fisherman, whatever it is. Vortex doesnt NEED to promote RP. Vanilla doesnt promote RP. Nexus, to my understanding, didnt promote RP. Players promote RP. Not plugins. If you choose to ignore RP for personal gain via a plugin, youre part of the problem youre complaining about.

In closing, if you dont want these things to happen, dont do them. It seems like many of these problems can be fixed by people not engaging in poor RP behaviour, rather than changing mechanics.

Anything that would use what is now considered vortex materials.

If you want 4 torches you need 1 stick and 1 coal.

You want a single torch so you can light up the outside of your home, okay what do you do. You go to your directional hub because that's where the nodes are you need. So you either SS to the hub teleporter or you run from whatever city you're in. Uh oh! You can't mine the coal because you don't have a pickaxe. But you are able to get some of the wood, might as well be all of it right? On your way back or after you ss to your city so you can make your way to find a pickaxe or coal. Oh no! Bandits! And they grinded vortex! Boom you get bandited and ganked for your materials and mina. "Flora the baker" who's not an RP fighter will just get murdered or robbed. Well assuming they want to keep all the wood they've gotten because they want a singular torch, they'd be better off choosing pvp. But wait, they didn't grind vortex so now they have no armor or weapons for pvp and just get murdered or robbed anyway.

Which btw, with exceeding life spans of some races, just because someone can bake does not mean they couldn't smith either. There are literal lifetimes characters could spend honing an expertise in a wide variety of fields. Vanilla easily facilitated this. Vortex and Nexus did and does not.
