[NOTE: Just wanted to say this is the tale of the character I created over 20 years ago... I didn't really adjust it to the world, it kinda does that itself] Dionon Bloodspire is the son of a brutal warlord named Dorian. His mother Serana was a slave captured from a more educated, but less fortified land. Dorian wanted nothing more than for Dionon, his older brother Damen and his younger sister Diantha to follow in his footsteps, and become warlords in their own right, extending his rule futher. That was not to be with Dionon, as Serana made every stride to teach the boy right from wrong. Reading, writing, basic arithmatic, virtue, honor. She taught him all this, and when it came time for Dionon to ascend to their land's version of 'Manhood' he refused and was to be put to death. Serana freed him, but he could not escape with her, and she was captured by Damen, and as she shouted for Dionon to find his own path, to be virtuous, and good.. she was run through. From there, Dionon became a wanderer, a vagabond, and a bit of a lout, until he was found by a good natured dwarf named Barabis Runebearer. Though Dionon attempted to fight the dwarf, he was easily defeated due to the former's superior training. Barabis was a knight, and a member of a holy order of warriors that espoused goodness, virtue and mercy. Barabis saw something in Dionon and offered to make him a squire. Unsure of why he was being nice, but not being able to pass up what would be free room and board for at least a while, Dionon accepted. The training was arduous and at times, nearly cruel, but Dionon slowly and surely was forged into a knight himself. Throughout his training, he remembers his mother's words. "Always be good, always be kind... And remember my love, the promise of the guardian..." She would smile, and it only dawned on him as he protected his first civilian what that promise was. "One day, the only shield left for me to protect those in my charge... will me my life"
