Alaria is of a moderate height for an elf. Taller than an average human woman, but not sufficiently tall that she would struggle significantly to disguise herself as one. Her bloodline is not particularly clear. An observer would usually chalk her as a High Elf, though her skin and hair bears a little more colour than usual. It's possible she dyed it, she can't remember. Alaria seems to present herself as higher class than she really is, wearing unusually elegant outfits one would expect to find only within a temple, and keeping her hygiene and health as close to perfect as possible, sometimes even going out of her way to do so. She would not look particularly out of place within a high-class social event, although this is one of the last places she wants to visit. Superstition or fear, she rarely has her hair cut, which makes it somewhat miraculous that it is as beautiful as it is. Those who behold her, elves and humans alike, tend to notice that part the most.
Alaria has spent a large portion of her life with her head in the clouds. After leaving home somewhere between the ages of 20 and 40 (she can't remember exactly when), Alaria became a somewhat reclusive person. She devoted herself to her interests, including the study of magic and nature, and the writing of both fiction and non-fiction books. She has spent the last 200 or so years following the flow of Malin, making sure to blur into the crowd as much as possible when she does leave the house. As a result, she has managed to gain a remarkably small understanding of humanoid cultures and would have difficulty naming her own city. She is pretty certain she's changed landmass once or twice, but is aware that she could have been dreaming that.
Though Alaria spends little time in the company of other people, she does spend a lot of her time adventuring. She has become tolerable with several weapons, and explores everywhere she goes looking for interesting new things to think about. That being said, she is neither good at fighting nor interested in it, doing it only when absolutely necessary. Despite her general willingness to be left alone, when she does find friends and allies, she can be a very compassionate person. Recently, she has found herself taking more of an interest in other people. She has begun to converse more with the people she meets and her personal values have started maturing. She has discovered that she does not like to see people suffering, and has started to wonder whether learning healing magic might be a good idea.
