    The Carolus Brigade

Formally His Divine Imperial Majesty’s Legionnaires, this Brigade shall be commanded by His Excellency, the Grand Marshal, and shall be the primary brigade of the Imperial Renatian Army. It shall act as the main force, comprised in grounds forces of officers and soldiers.

Forged during the fragile and fledgling era of the Union of Renatus and Marna, the Carolus Brigade derives its namesake from the father of the first Emperor of Man. The Carolus Brigade combined personnel from both the Marnese Freikorps and Renatian State Army into a single, cohesive frontline combat unit, with Prince Antonius Horen being charged as the first Grand Marshal. Drawing from the traditions of the militaristic Renatian state and the disciplined, regimented nature of Marnantine footmen, the newly founded Carolus Brigade was a force nearly unassailable on the field of battle.

    The Companion Brigade

The Companion Brigade, formally His Divine Imperial Majesty’s Ritter Corp, shall serve as the border guard and mounted corp of the Imperial Legion. It is to consist of horse-trained men, capable knights, riders and veteran cavalry units.

    HISTORY

While the Renatian man most comfortably fights rank and file in a cohesive frontline combat unit, the importance of battlefield mobility cannot be understated. As such, the King’s Renatian Legion has often relied upon unprofessional auxiliary riders or the services of the knights of the realm. However, these supporting elements were often unruly and possessed no real command structure. After numerous years of campaign, the burden of unreliable horsemen was felt from the upper command to the lowly footman. Thus, in the aftermath of the Pagan War was the Companion Brigade forged; to act as the official and organized cavalry wing of the Imperial Renatian Legion. Although, the unit is considered to be in its infancy, many of its members comprise of battle-hardened knights renowned in their ability to plunge their lances through their enemies with holy ferocity at the gallop.

    The Aurelian Brigade

The Aurelian Brigade, formally His Divine Imperial Majesty’s Oathsworn, shall act as a highly specialized brigade. Often used for operations needing discretion and expert soldiers. The men of the Aurelian adapt to an unconventional fighting form in which they know both how to create gaps, as well as possess the knowledge to exploit them. Thus, they ought to be able to adapt to battlefield changes rapidly.

    HISTORY

What officially would become known as the Aurelian Brigade initially began with the merging of Renatian veterans with remnants of the Camel Bandits, into a fast-action special operations warfare group. Their ranks were further bolstered when the then King Aurelius of Renatus-Marna realized the value of having such an unconventional unit, and thus, merging the unit with the also renowned King’s Renatian Engineers. Through this union, the Aurelian Brigade was formed. The Aurelian Brigade has often proved their tenacity, fanaticism and keen-eye for siegecraft during Renatian campaigns such as the Sieges of Ruriksgrad, Nordengrad, Red Peak, San’Kala, and Kal’Tarak.

    The Logistics Corp

The Imperial Logistics Corp shall act as the primary lifeblood in which the Imperial Legion shall fight upon. They are charged with the production, maintenance, distribution, and supply of various necessities or tools of war for the men of the Imperial Legion. While the soldier does his part taking the fight to the enemy, the logistics officer plays an as crucial role. For it is men of the Logistics Corp who forges the arms and armor that preserves a legionnaire’s life or provides relief and food to him when he is warn and starving. Additionally, the roles of medic or surgeon fall within the jurisdiction of the Imperial Logistic Corp.

    The Enlistment Corp

The Imperial Enlistment Corp comprises of individuals whose purpose is to bolster the ranks of the Imperial Legion with fresh blood and eager volunteers. They ought to be persuasive and quite vocal to ensure every proud Imperial citizen does their part for the Empire of Man. They are charged with organizing recruitment drives and can establish recruitment offices across various cities.

His Imperial Majesty, Aurelius I of House Horen leading the center in the Battle of the Sleeping Swamps, 1660

The consolidation of the Crown of Renatus-Marna was universally seen as a threat to the once divided human realms during the aftermath of the Holy Orenian Empire’s dissolution. The balance of power on continental Atlas had been dramatically shifted. Many of the breakaway human domains, bent on retaining their power, were reluctant to accept this change in the status quo. Many of which rose in direct opposition to the Crown of Renatus-Marna. Yet, the Carolus Brigade remained steadfast in their commitment to the defense of their nation.

The Czena Conflict was a war which pitched the defiant nations of the Kingdoms of Hanseti-Ruska, and Santegia, and the Principality of Curon directly against the infant state of Renatus-Marna. Many individuals had come to believe that the Crown of Renatus-Marna sought unitary hegemony over all of humanity. Unwilling to part with their independence, the Confederation of Czena was forged to force Renatus-Marna to the negotiating table. Refusing to allow himself to be strong armed into submission, King Aurelius I ordered several incursions into the borderlands of the southern nations, proving very successful in decisive, lightning raids. The conflict ultimately drew to a close, when the Achillius I, cousin of Aurelius, was placed on the throne of Santegia and when the unpopular Princess Linette I of Curon was deposed and the Curonite capital of Cyrilsburg was absorbed into the wider Empire, thus resulting in the de facto dissolution of the Czena Confederation. Though the war was brief and lacked major scale engagements it served as a testament to the unwavering resolve of the Carolus Brigade in the face of insurmountable odds.

A skirmish between Legionnaires and Czena forces on the hill lands of Cyrilsburg, 1652

In the aftermath of the Czena Conflict, the only Czena power to retain its independence from the Renatian-Marnantine sphere of influence was the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, on the fringes of the Yatl Wastelands. Now finding itself isolated from the human realms, which were now largely Renatus-aligned, the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska sought to forge alliances with nations beyond the southern portion of Atlas. Thus, the Triple Entente, comprised of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, the Kingdom of Norland, and the Sohaerate of Haelun’or was formed. The war that was the Czena Conflict was still freshly ingrained in the minds of many Renatian-Marnantine citizens; thus much of the populace openly cried to bring the war to the enemy’s doorstep. King Aurelius readily obliged their wishes and immediately ordered an assault into the Kingdom of Norland, in a historic ‘March to the Sea’. However, during this time, the State Army had undergone a radical doctrinal change in which the ordinary footsoldier forgoed much of their heavier armor for battlefield mobility, utilizing polearms to cut the enemy to ribbons. This would come to the enemy’s fruition during the Battle of the Sleeping Swamps in which Entente hastily assembled to halt the Renatian advance. However, they were unable to react to the revolutionary tactics employed by the State Army and the Carolus Brigade. Pockets of Entente troops would find themselves surrounded and isolated, cut off from their allies as they were put to the sword. Notably, this led to an event during the battle known as the Mole’s Hill Massacre in which a large portion of Entente forces were outmaneuvered and cut down by waves of missile fire from the Carolus Brigade. The result of the battle was a decisive Renatian victory. With the road ahead to the Norlandic capital, Ruriksgrad, clear, the Renatian forces pursued retreating Entente remnants, burning and pillaging everything in their path. In a march of record time, Renatian forces soon reached and blockaded the Norlandic stronghold and capital of Ruriksgrad. The siege endured six grueling months, worsened as the attacking army was beset by the winds of winter. Weather regardless, the brave men of the Carolus Brigade were undeterred, serving as the vanguard of the Royal State Army, paving the way forward through the breaches in the wall. Once the gap was exploited, it was not long until the city war swarmed and fighting took to the streets. In rapid order, the city was taken house by house, with much of the inhabitants put to the sword. With the Norlandic capital firmly within Renatian hands, it was not long before the disillusioned Haelun’orians withdrew from the Entente, once more leaving the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska to retreat into seclusion, ending the period known as the First Atlas Coalition War, or known colloquially to Renatian veterans as the Continental War.

When Renatian forces returned home to lick their wounds, there was a brief lull in continental warfare. However, the peace was disrupted when the treacherous House of Burgundar propped up the disgraced House of Staunton and ceded their lands and titles to the self-proclaimed King Tobias (the Rat) II of Courland in an act of rebellion against the Crown. The conflict served to reveal the true nature of a small portion of opportunistic and traitorous nobles of Atlas. As word of Tobias the Rat’s ascendancy spread across the continent, it was not long until they received arms and volunteers from the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, as well as Ostmarker, Nevarian, and Rivian defectors. However, as Tobias the Rat scrambled to amass support, the full might of the Royal Renatian Army was already bearing down on his doorstep. In a costly campaign, the inhabitants of Reiver Bay, who had allied themselves with Courland, were defeated. As land was gained, the Staunton force was quickly relegated to the stronghold of Whitepeak, the former ancestral home of the Burgundars. The siege was brief, as Renatian forces were almost immediately able to assail the walls and enter the city. What resulted was a slaughter so deadly, than many men of the Carolus Brigade came to know the battle as the Siege of Redpeak. With the only Courlander foothold on the continent retaken, it was not long until the remaining rebel territories were seized, concluding the Staunton Uprising, or the Second Atlas Coalition War.

The Imperial Renatian Legion laying siege to Nordengrad and the Krag, 1690

Through the combined efforts of King Aurelius of Renatus-Marna and King Sigmar Lothar of Hanseti-Ruska, the Kingdom of Haense was brought into the fold of a newly organized human imperial state, the Empire of Man. Newer generations have since forgotten the conflict between the two bitter rivals, and tensions have mostly died down as the Haensetians assimilated into the greater Empire. The era of peace and stability was something unheard of for many years, and became known as the Pax Hominibus. The Pax Hominibus came to a sudden halt after nearly a decade when the Chiefdom of Arberrang, a prominent vassal of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, was forced to the point of rebellion against their liege. The war escalated as the Earldom of Nordengrad, comprised of many displaced Norlandic refugees, lent the Arberrangians their aid, using the opportunity to raid Haensetian lands. As the situation quickly deteriorated, a swift retribution is prepared in the honor of the Kingdom of Hanseti-Ruska, now vassal of the Empire of Man. Believing this an opportunity to topple what they perceived to be a weakened and divided human nation, the orcish Rexdom of Krugmar and the dwarven Kingdom of Kaz’Ulrah joined the war in a direct challenge to human sovereignty, beginning the Third Atlas Coalition War, or the Pagan War. In a remarkable feat of Imperial siegecraft and force, Imperial forces are able to decisively knock dismantle the entire pagan Anti-Imperial Coalition within a span of four years. One after another, the dissenting strongholds fell into Imperial hands, beginning with Norlandic hold of Nordengrad, then the conquest of Arberrang, followed by the siege of the Orcish capital of San’Kala, and ultimately ending with siege of last bastion of resistance, the dwarven city of Kal’Tarak.

    OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT

Reporting Knight: Ser Griffith von Roke

    Incident: Metal, magically imbued skeleton.

Individuals Involved: Archbishop Humpfrey, Armand de Sarkozy, Octavien de Sarkozy, Ser Griffith; civilians

    Details of Incident:

Inside the Firelight Inn in Belvitz, a humanoid skeleton made entirely of metal stalked in, not requiring any flesh nor bonds to keep its form together and functioning. Its maw and eye sockets alight with flames, shown later to not be mere decoration but relating to its powers.

On the scene were myself, Marshal Armand and his son, Octavien, and later Archbishop Humpfrey; as well as a handful of civilians. Upon seeing the skeleton, weapons were drawn; I myself took up a mace. In an effort to hold back the presumably undead creature, I and good Octavien held it back, doing little else but keeping it down and preoccupied whilst the Marshal ushered the civilians out of the premises before seeking out the Archbishop and his holy relics. In the meantime, the spook’s molten eyes began to spurt into a greater blaze before unleashing a supernatural, searing blast of red hot flames in an uncontrolled manner. Both the defending men were able to avoid any damage but the same could not be said for the famous tavern, counter, table and chairs being set alight and scorch marks scarring the walls. After a moment of disbelief, myself and good Octavien brought our maces down against the back of its metallic skull, abruptly ending its unnatural beam when its head cracked against the floorboards. In the same instant, Marshal Armand and the Archbishop rushed in through the second entrance, each holding a bucket containing molten tar which was with all possible haste poured over the undead horror, encasing it and as it cooled extinguishing the flames and ended the life, if it can be called that, of the spook.

Incident: Hunt of 2 Greymane Boars near Curon

Individuals Involved: Ser Graham Milner, Ser Angelo de Alba

    Details of Incident:

During a hunting expedition with Ser Angelo de Alba in the woods near the city of Cyrilsburg, we came across medium sized tracks in the snow. After investigating these tracks, we deemed them to be some kind of heavyset creature, and we continued to track and follow them. After some time of tracking, the footprints led to a small cave, in which two large boars resided. Both Angelo and myself nocked arrows, releasing them towards the nearest boar as it began to charge. The arrows wounded it, yet it continued its charge towards Angelo, who properly sidestepped. The second boar followed close behind the first, except tried to charge past the hunting party. As it passed, I stabbed the beast in the side as it continued to charge, worsening the wound to it as it halted its charge several feet away. Turning my focus to the boar attacking Angelo, now backed against the cave, I raised my blade above my head, the tip poised towards the beast, plunging it down into the brute.Angelo was able to recover due to this, and quickly was back on his feet. The other boar, however, had taken no time to charge straight into the back of my legs, knocking me over and forcing me to crawl to the top of the cave entrance for cover, knocking an arrow in my bow. The boar flung itself towards Angelo, now not focused on me, and died mid charge due to an arrow shot and Angelo’s attack. We quickly harvested the meat and returned home to recover from our wounds.

    OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT

    Reporting Knight: Ser Tobias

    Incident: Angered ancient spirit

Individuals Involved: Bishop Rudolph, Ser Tobias, civilians

    Details of Incident:

Upon wandering into the busy townsquare, I immediately heard the shrieks of the townsfolk. Investigating, an angered spirit was found to be attacking them, lunging itself at them with a corrupted weapon. Evidently, this spirit was ancient, and incredibly strong, causing cracks to travel within the stone and strong telekinetic force to ricochet, further damaging the buildings of the city and injuring the citizens.

Bishop Rudolph was the first to step forth, shouting scripture at the entity in Flexio. I moved to stand by the clergyman, defending him from oncoming attacks. A wooden cross that the bishop wore began to glow, a curious barrier forming around us from an unknown origin. The bishop thinking it holy, he continued shouting, which angered the entity further. A deep black oozed from the spirit, the near-liquid mist oozing out from it, spreading around the area- killing one woman who wandered out from the barrier instantaneously. The enraged spirit swung its weapon down on the barrier, trying to destroy our one means of safety. I began shouting what bits of the Scrolls I knew, shouting the prayers I knew, an the handful of citizens inside began to follow suit, the barrier beginning to strengthen. The barrier held strong, and finally, when it seemed near-hopeless it flashed with a holy light, growing brighter, and it remained in place for as long as I and the citizens kept shouting prayers. The spirit, seeing that it now failed to penetrate the barrier, began to warp and distort, turning into the blackness, and so the attack was successfully repelled.

    Incident: Wild Dire Bear hunt

Individuals Involved: Ser Avery, Ser Tobias

    Details of Incident:

In the wilds of the Haensetian forests, Ser Avery and I trudged through the heavy snow, with the intentions of finding a beast to kill. With the winds picking up and a blizzard beginning to form, we decided to set up camp. This idea was short-lived however, and we had not even gathered wood for a campfire when a low, loud growl was heard from behind us. Craning my neck to see, I saw that I found what I was after: a massive direbear. We both leapt to our feet, Ser Avery unsheathing his longsword, and I gripping onto my polearm. The direbear was quickly upon us, launching forth with ferocity. When I was knocked back off the ledge and into the snow, Ser Avery boldly stood his ground, avoiding the blow and swinging his blade down into the shoulder blade of the wild beast. Hastily getting to my feet, I snatched my crossbow, letting loose a bolt into the fur of the raging bear as Avery swiftly succeeded in cutting a paw clean off. It wailed, collapsing on its side, struggling to get back up again. Not allowing it the chance to do so, I rushed forward, piercing the bear in its belly. In agony, it let out a ear piercing yowl, but still I pursued, and sunk the sharpened end of my weapon into the heart of the bear. Finally, the ravage animal fell silent, and its body went limp.

The road was littered with corpses, the water diluted with red ichor - this was the aftermath of a Empire victory against the reemerging Reivers that had struck out against a Haense ball. The few survivors hid in their towers and forts like rats that needed to be routed out, so that is what must be done.

A war council was convened shortly after and it was decided that once more the Reivers will be rooted out, butchered and once more made extinct which was a common occurrence for the lackluster fighters that struggle to win any fight.

A second tower, that was ruined, was seen to house the pitiful Reiver bandits - so without hesitation the banners of the Empire were called once more, a plethora of flags flying high in the sky as they would march upon the second fortification just after the first. Each and every soldier confident that the Reivers, as always, would find themselves being dealt another loss.

  8. REAFFIRMATION OF THE ETERNAL WAR ACT, 1687

Issued and Confirmed by his Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Man, Aurelius of the House of Horen, 14th of the Sun’s Smile, 1687

TO ALL THE PEOPLES OF ATLAS,

The Imperial Crown wishes to reaffirm precedent set forth by the Eternal War Act of 1668 that the Crown has zero tolerance for the roadside banditry perpetrated by the collective group of miscreants and lowlives known as the ‘Reivers’. The act, penned by the hand of former Archchancellor Charles Elliot Horen forbid any interaction, cooperation, and affiliation with the blue scarfed bandits, on pain of death. Those who are witnessed or suspected of colluding with the bandits are hereby declared enemies of the State. This extends to both constituent territories and foreign nations. Though they die in droves, slain by the hands of the valiant men and women of the Empire, they always have yet another hole to retreat to, like the cowards they are.

Henceforth, any individual who commits any of the following deeds is hereby deemed an enemy to the Empire.

    • Creating a contract with the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches.

    • Assisting the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches in combat.

    • Assisting the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches financially.

    • Allying themselves or engaging in diplomacy or treaty making with the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches.

    • Offering safe refuge or harbor to the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches.

    • Actively associating oneself with the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches.

TO ALL LOYAL SUBJECTS OF THE IMPERIAL CROWN,

The Imperial Crown wishes to establish a clear and unbiased record, provide its account of Scarlet Crusade developments on the 10th of Grand Harvest, 1686.

The Imperial Crown, wishing to display a show of support for Imperial conquest, rallied their forces to prepare to take control of a fort of squatters known as the Scarlet Crusade.

Prior to our departure Theo Helvets approached His Imperial Majesty, the Emperor, with the desire to purchase the land of squatting Scarlet Crusade in an attempt to spite the Imperial force which desired to take it. His Imperial Majesty promptly denied the request to purchase the land of the squatters, stating that “We do not purchase what is ours.”

The conquest of the second rebellious holding continues, until the time of which it is promptly handed back to Imperial control.

TO ALL LOYAL SUBJECTS OF THE IMPERIAL CROWN,

It has come to the attention of the Imperial Arch-Seneschalty that several attempted assaults on the Imperial Stewards of Carolustadt, and certain loyal subjects of the Imperial Crown of Elven descent, have recently taken place within the Capital with the intent of disturbing Imperial peace and sowing discord and distrust among our subjects. We hereby issue a WARNING to all miscreants that no attacks on those who swear fealty to the Imperial Crown of Exalted Godfrey shall be tolerated.

Thus we do decree, in accordance with the Imperial Ten Tables that classify these acts of treason, mutilation, and assault as FELONIES, the prescribed punishments for all who defy the Crown’s will to be as follows:

    ASSAULT OF AN IMPERIAL STEWARD:

    • Whoever assaults an Imperial Steward, whether of Human or Elven descent, themselves being of Human origin, shall lose a hand and a foot, and shall thus be branded with hot iron.
    • Whoever assaults an Imperial Steward, whether of Human or Elven descent, themselves being of Dwarven, High Elven, or Wood Elven origin, shall lose a hand and a foot, their ears if Elven, their beard if Dwarven, and shall thus be branded with hot iron.
    • Whoever assaults an Imperial Steward, whether of Human or Elven descent, themselves being of mixed, Orcish, Dark Elven, Snow Elven, or abominable non-descendant origin, shall be crucified or purified by flame.

ASSAULT OF AN IMPERIAL CITIZEN OF ELVEN DESCENT, WITH THE INTENTION OF MUTILATION:

    • Whoever assaults a subject of the Imperial Crown of Elven descent with the intent of involuntary ear removal or similar degrees of mutilation, themselves being of Human origin, shall lose a hand.
    • Whoever assaults a subject of the Imperial Crown of Elven descent with the intent of involuntary ear removal or similar degrees of mutilation, themselves being of Dwarven, High Elven, or Wood Elven origin, shall lose both hands, or a hand and both ears if Elven.

    ON GENTLEMEN’S QUARRELS, 1685

    MaKCvDNDvGCrgc0ciHpvOEwsREnXkh9PRo82sXcXkU9-WEFPkcBoBqMQvt0KzSCi-NkDNAaairlMxiQZ2X71QI9acYngv22GlO3IOARy9eLx7Lgi6nuoFnc7wf_aTuf71QRGoQtM

Issued and Confirmed by his Imperial Majesty, the Emperor of Man, Aurelius of the House of Horen, 5th of Horen’s Calling, 1685.

TO ALL LOYAL SUBJECTS OF THE IMPERIAL CROWN,

In the lands of civilized men, it is not unexpected for some of these men to come to disagreements. Whether these be of opinion, politic, land or marital feuds, or simply the result of an abrasive and improper man’s acts, many a men of Empire has, at some time or another, felt the need to draw their blade on their peers. But the resolution of quarrels, regardless of cause, shall never be performed in the streets, for the common eye to see. Thus the well-educated, proper man of noble blood and birth shall look to the duel for resolution.

A morally acceptable duel shall start with the challenger issuing a traditional, public, and personal grievance, based on whatever has driven them to such a declaration, directly to the single person who offended the challenger who is of equal or lesser status. The challenged person has the choice of public apology, restitution, or refusal. Refusing peaceful resolution, the challenged individual has the right of choosing the weapons appropriate for the duel. The challenger shall then propose a place for the ‘field of honor’, the place where the duel shall occur. The field of honor shall always be private land, away from the eyes of the prying masses, and preferably shall either be on the lands of a neutral third-party or the Emperor’s. The challenged may either accept or propose an alternative, with just cause.

A challenged may only refuse if the challenge is not based on proper moral grounds, and then must seek alternate resolution. The Grand Knight or a person that he appoints must then mediate the feud and determine who is the correct party, and if the duel is rightfully refused.

At the field of honor, both challenger and challenged shall bring a medic or healer and seconds. The seconds shall try to reconcile the parties by acting as go-betweens to attempt to settle the dispute with an apology or restitution. If reconciliation succeeded, all parties shall consider the dispute to be honorably settled and return to their homes. Each side shall have at least one second, though three is the traditional number. To be a man’s second in a duel is a great honor and typically one given to close friends or allies.

Should one party fail to appear to the field of honor, he shall be accounted a coward. The appearing party will be considered the victor by default, and the seconds, assembled nobles, genty and the appointed arbitrator shall all bear witness of the cowardice. When using swords, the two parties shall start on opposite sides of a square twenty paces wide and twenty paces long. The square shall be marked at the corners, typically with dropped handkerchiefs. To leave the marked square is a show of cowardice.

The two opponents shall agree upon a condition to which to duel, first blood being the most common. Other conditions include dueling until either one party was physically unable to fight or the present medics call a halt to the fight.

When one grievously offended wishes to duel to the death of another man, the requested challenge must first be brought before the Emperor. Only with His Imperial Majesty’s express consent shall such a duel to the death occur.

After a duel is concluded the duelists must then shake hands, agreeing upon the offense or disagreement having been settled. They shall then depart on good terms, as it is dishonorable and undignified for the victor to slander or taunt the defeated or speak ill of him to others after a duel.

TO ALL LOYAL SUBJECTS OF THE IMPERIAL CROWN,

It has come to the attention of the Imperial Crown that there has been a great amount of misdeeds conducted by the Church sanctioned Order of St. Peter. Such misdeeds range from lying to Imperial officials, the attempted murder of an Imperial Knight and his squires, and partaking in the art of necrotic resurrection. All three present a clear and present violation of the reissued Imperial Ten Tables.

II.A.3 - BATTERY WITH THE INTENT OF PERMANENT INJURY, FELONY

    IV.A.1 - TREASON, FELONY

    IV.D.1 - OBSTRUCTION, FELONY

    VI.D.1 - WITCHCRAFT, FELONY

In addition to these charges, the three individuals have already been determined GUILTY by means of Trial By Combat. Ser Konyves, the victim of the attempted murder, proved their guilt by felling all three assailants by himself.

THE ASSAILANTS AS RECORDED BY THE IMPERIAL CROWN

    Grandmaster Martin Ironwood

    Hans Wilhelm

    James Kowacz

THE IMPERIAL CROWN OF THE IMPERIUM SEPTIMUS THEREBY ISSUES A COMPLETE BAN AND BANISHMENT OF ANY AND ALL ASSOCIATES OF THE DISGRACED ORDER OF ST. PETER WITHIN THE BORDERS OF OUR FAIR IMPERIUM UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

This disgraced order has slandered and botched the good name of St. Peter, and may GOD prevent those who have committed such wicked crimes not be permitted entry into his abode.

Issued and confirmed by His Excellency, Aran of the House of Talraen, Arch-Seneschal of the Imperial Crown of Exalted Godfrey; penned by His Excellency, Ser Carlovac of the House of Kovachev, Lord Constable of the Imperial Crown of Exalted Godfrey, 5th of Owyn's Light, 1684

TO ALL LOYAL SUBJECTS OF THE IMPERIAL CROWN,

Trade and commerce are the very lifeline through which wealth and prosperity flow within a nation. In essence, the routes by which trade flows are the veins and arteries, connected to the living heart of the Empire, the capital of Renatus. From there, Imperial influence sprawls to the outlying settlements and to foreign realms afar and abroad. These routes serve to ferry good and resources in and out. As such, this is why the existing roads must be maintained and new, more efficient routes be constructed. Due to the nature of His Imperial Majesty controlling vast swaths of land - some of these territories are distanced from the throne by a large margin geographically. It is of utmost importance that loyal servants of the Imperial Crown remain ever connected to one another and the Imperial City itself. With that in regard, a new roadway shall be constructed - headed by the Andrei Kovachev and Son. Building Corporation - beginning immediately. Aforementioned road will provide a direct route from the Cloud Temple to the Imperial City of Carolustadt. The path will run through the lands of the northern marches of the Ardennes and Styria, governed by the houses of d’Amaury and Ivanovich respectively. Travelers from the outermost reaches are guaranteed safe passage as His Imperial Majesty’s State Army will be charged with patrolling and defending the roads. Let this usher in a new period of  peace and prosperity within the Empire.

    OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT

    Reporting Knight: Ser Seth Renault

Incident: Scouting Mission of the Southern Wastes with the Crown Prince

Individuals Involved: Ser Seth Renault, Augustus Horen, Ser Aldrick Wulff, Rhys var Ruthern, Mason (the Prince’s squire), Almisael, Demetrius var Ruthern

    Details of Incident:
Following a meeting during court between the Crown Prince and Marshal Rhys var Ruthern, the Prince decided to form a small group of select individuals to investigate the southern wastes. The objective was to scout the area for potential sites to set our armies in order to combat the Red Vaeyl. After much time traveling, we finally arrived at the ice wall, far south into the wastes. We carefully made our way across the crumbling bridge until we couldn’t, as the bridge was completely collapsed near the wall. Demetrius var Ruthern and I volunteered to venture down to find another way up the wall. We found an entrance to the wall keep blocked off by ice, something to keep note of. Right next to it, as well, was a portal out in plain view. We are not aware of what is inside, as the Crown Prince did not wish for us to enter, but perhaps I could see about gathering a band of courageous knights to venture forth into it. Of course, reports say these portals are very dangerous. In any case, Demetrius and I returned to the party before we retreated a bit to make camp. We found a hill nearby which contained a nook perfect for the night. As well, we surveyed the land around this hill, and the Crown Prince, alongside with his counsel, determined it would be a wise place to set our armies. With GOD on our side, we will prevail.

Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Highness, Pius of the House of Horen, Grand Knight of the Crown of Godfrey, 16th of Harren’s Folley. Penned by Ser Avery, 1683

    OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT

    Reporting Knight: Ser Avery

Incident: Attack of the Flesh Atrocity

    Individuals Involved: Ser Avery, Julia

    Details of Incident:

I was journeying alongside a wandering woman who merely went by the name ‘Julia’ deep into the forests south of Haense, with the intention of discovering more information about the whereabouts regarding the Red Vaeyl and their schemes. But this endeavour was soon interrupted as a gruesome scene was thrust before us, a whimpering boy of no more than sixteen hung suspended from the branches of a tree, by his own intestines nonetheless. With remorse I had no choice but to put the poor soul out of his misery, and we watched with confusion as the corpse began to bleed a brownish, sweet scented liquid instead of blood. We didn’t have much time to toil on the topic, as we were suddenly surrounded by hissing voices, whispering threats from an unseen location. Without warning, what only can be described as a spawn of Iblees presented itself to us. A creature made out of seemingly a dozen faces, and multiple shredded appendages forced itself down from the tree’s branches. The hulking, fleshy mass thrust itself upon us, and the woman beside me could not hide her disgust and horror. As we fought, the many rambling and whimpering faces, watched us with blood crazed eyes, recording our every move, making note of our actions and our choices in combat. Brazenly, the woman rushed forward, and the creature began lashing out, clawing and gnawing at us to fight back. Acid erupted from its many mouths, the horrid vomit burning into my armor as the woman lit a torch. Realizing the opportunity, I too rushed forth, being struck harshly in the jaw. But the sacrifice was well worth it, for when I dumped the alcoholic contents on the entity, the woman thrust her torch into the beast, and the horrendous agglomeration of decaying flesh erupted into flame. Both of us injured and burnt by the acidic vomit, we staggered back to watch as it screeched in sheer agony, before remarkably it turned into a statue-like corpse. The creature slain, I watched as the burnt and injured woman staggered off, and I have not seen her since, and I have since then returned to Carolustadt to treat my own injuries.
