  1. IMPERIAL MINISTRY OF WAR anno Domini 1692 With the victory of the Imperial Army over the Nordlanders, His Imperial Majesty Aurelius I of House Horen does see fit to modernize and restructure the Imperial Military. It his His Imperial Majesty’s hope and goal that the Imperial Ministry of War shall progress our military capacity and prowess. At the head of the Imperial Army is the Imperial Marshal, directly subordinate to him the Imperial General. The Imperial Renatian Legion shall henceforth be divided into three independent Brigades commanded by Brigadiers. These Brigades will train men in their specific field. It shall offer the Empire of Man a more holistic and commanding presence in the Field of Battle. May His Imperial Majesty Aurelius I of House Horen’s wisdom and GOD's guidance better defend the Empire of Man and its citizens. “Vincere est vivere.” - ancient Renatian proverb and motto of the Imperial Legion. Duties of the Ministry To conduct war under the guidance of His Imperial Majesty To advise His Imperial Majesty To defend the borders of the Empire of Man To upkeep His Imperial Majesty’s armed forces To protect His Imperial Majesty General staff of the King’s Renatian Legion discuss strategy in the midst of battle, 1661 Imperial Staff Officers The Imperial Marshal His Excellency, the Marshal of the Imperial Army is to be appointed by His Imperial Majesty and act as the primary executor of His Imperial Majesty’s orders and directives in the Imperial Ministry of War. Further, he shall command the Carolus Brigade which shall be the backbone of the Imperial Army. The Imperial General The Honorable, the Imperial General shall be subordinate to the Imperial Grand Marshal and shall be appointed directly by His Imperial Majesty. He shall act as the subordinate to the Imperial Marshal. His role is to guide and maintain the Imperial Legion. Officers Brigadier | Colonel | Major | Captain | Ensign Enlisted Ranks Master Sergeant | Sergeant | Master-at-Arms | Man-at-Arms | Footman Ser Leitseig Romstun and fellow crusaders praying before the Battle o’ Rochdale, 1640 The Imperial Legion His Imperial Majesty’s Imperial Legion is to be broken into The Carolus Brigade, The Companion Brigade and the Aurelian Brigade. These three brigades shall act as the primary combat brigades for the Empire of Man. Further the Imperial Legion will have two separate corps, the Logistics Corp and the Enlistment Corp. Aurelian soldiers under the guise of the Camel Bandits lead the charge against Ghanyan levies, 1673 The Carolus Brigade Formally His Divine Imperial Majesty’s Legionnaires, this Brigade shall be commanded by His Excellency, the Grand Marshal, and shall be the primary brigade of the Imperial Renatian Army. It shall act as the main force, comprised in grounds forces of officers and soldiers. Forged during the fragile and fledgling era of the Union of Renatus and Marna, the Carolus Brigade derives its namesake from the father of the first Emperor of Man. The Carolus Brigade combined personnel from both the Marnese Freikorps and Renatian State Army into a single, cohesive frontline combat unit, with Prince Antonius Horen being charged as the first Grand Marshal. Drawing from the traditions of the militaristic Renatian state and the disciplined, regimented nature of Marnantine footmen, the newly founded Carolus Brigade was a force nearly unassailable on the field of battle. The Companion Brigade The Companion Brigade, formally His Divine Imperial Majesty’s Ritter Corp, shall serve as the border guard and mounted corp of the Imperial Legion. It is to consist of horse-trained men, capable knights, riders and veteran cavalry units. HISTORY While the Renatian man most comfortably fights rank and file in a cohesive frontline combat unit, the importance of battlefield mobility cannot be understated. As such, the King’s Renatian Legion has often relied upon unprofessional auxiliary riders or the services of the knights of the realm. However, these supporting elements were often unruly and possessed no real command structure. After numerous years of campaign, the burden of unreliable horsemen was felt from the upper command to the lowly footman. Thus, in the aftermath of the Pagan War was the Companion Brigade forged; to act as the official and organized cavalry wing of the Imperial Renatian Legion. Although, the unit is considered to be in its infancy, many of its members comprise of battle-hardened knights renowned in their ability to plunge their lances through their enemies with holy ferocity at the gallop. The Aurelian Brigade The Aurelian Brigade, formally His Divine Imperial Majesty’s Oathsworn, shall act as a highly specialized brigade. Often used for operations needing discretion and expert soldiers. The men of the Aurelian adapt to an unconventional fighting form in which they know both how to create gaps, as well as possess the knowledge to exploit them. Thus, they ought to be able to adapt to battlefield changes rapidly. HISTORY What officially would become known as the Aurelian Brigade initially began with the merging of Renatian veterans with remnants of the Camel Bandits, into a fast-action special operations warfare group. Their ranks were further bolstered when the then King Aurelius of Renatus-Marna realized the value of having such an unconventional unit, and thus, merging the unit with the also renowned King’s Renatian Engineers. Through this union, the Aurelian Brigade was formed. The Aurelian Brigade has often proved their tenacity, fanaticism and keen-eye for siegecraft during Renatian campaigns such as the Sieges of Ruriksgrad, Nordengrad, Red Peak, San’Kala, and Kal’Tarak. The Logistics Corp The Imperial Logistics Corp shall act as the primary lifeblood in which the Imperial Legion shall fight upon. They are charged with the production, maintenance, distribution, and supply of various necessities or tools of war for the men of the Imperial Legion. While the soldier does his part taking the fight to the enemy, the logistics officer plays an as crucial role. For it is men of the Logistics Corp who forges the arms and armor that preserves a legionnaire’s life or provides relief and food to him when he is warn and starving. Additionally, the roles of medic or surgeon fall within the jurisdiction of the Imperial Logistic Corp. The Enlistment Corp The Imperial Enlistment Corp comprises of individuals whose purpose is to bolster the ranks of the Imperial Legion with fresh blood and eager volunteers. They ought to be persuasive and quite vocal to ensure every proud Imperial citizen does their part for the Empire of Man. They are charged with organizing recruitment drives and can establish recruitment offices across various cities. 3. THE IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE RED DRAGON: METAL SKELETON Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Highness, Pius of the House of Horen, Grand Knight of the Crown of Godfrey, 13th of Horen’s Calling. Penned by Knight Errant Griffith von Roke, 1692 OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT Reporting Knight: Ser Griffith von Roke Incident: Metal, magically imbued skeleton. Individuals Involved: Archbishop Humpfrey, Armand de Sarkozy, Octavien de Sarkozy, Ser Griffith; civilians Details of Incident: Inside the Firelight Inn in Belvitz, a humanoid skeleton made entirely of metal stalked in, not requiring any flesh nor bonds to keep its form together and functioning. Its maw and eye sockets alight with flames, shown later to not be mere decoration but relating to its powers. On the scene were myself, Marshal Armand and his son, Octavien, and later Archbishop Humpfrey; as well as a handful of civilians. Upon seeing the skeleton, weapons were drawn; I myself took up a mace. In an effort to hold back the presumably undead creature, I and good Octavien held it back, doing little else but keeping it down and preoccupied whilst the Marshal ushered the civilians out of the premises before seeking out the Archbishop and his holy relics. In the meantime, the spook’s molten eyes began to spurt into a greater blaze before unleashing a supernatural, searing blast of red hot flames in an uncontrolled manner. Both the defending men were able to avoid any damage but the same could not be said for the famous tavern, counter, table and chairs being set alight and scorch marks scarring the walls. After a moment of disbelief, myself and good Octavien brought our maces down against the back of its metallic skull, abruptly ending its unnatural beam when its head cracked against the floorboards. In the same instant, Marshal Armand and the Archbishop rushed in through the second entrance, each holding a bucket containing molten tar which was with all possible haste poured over the undead horror, encasing it and as it cooled extinguishing the flames and ended the life, if it can be called that, of the spook. IN NOMINE DE, HIS IMPERIAL HIGHNESS, Ser Pius Horen the Hellstrider, Imperial Prince of the Imperium Septimus, Grand Knight of the Order of the Red Dragon, Baron of Arrav, Titular King of Rhodesia, Eighth Vandalore and Baron of Arrav.
  4. THE IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE RED DRAGON: GREYMANE BOARS Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Highness, Pius of the House of Horen, Grand Knight of the Crown of Godfrey, 22nd of Sigismund’s End. Penned by Ser Graham Milner, 1691 OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT Reporting Knight: Ser Graham Milner Incident: Hunt of 2 Greymane Boars near Curon Individuals Involved: Ser Graham Milner, Ser Angelo de Alba Details of Incident: During a hunting expedition with Ser Angelo de Alba in the woods near the city of Cyrilsburg, we came across medium sized tracks in the snow. After investigating these tracks, we deemed them to be some kind of heavyset creature, and we continued to track and follow them. After some time of tracking, the footprints led to a small cave, in which two large boars resided. Both Angelo and myself nocked arrows, releasing them towards the nearest boar as it began to charge. The arrows wounded it, yet it continued its charge towards Angelo, who properly sidestepped. The second boar followed close behind the first, except tried to charge past the hunting party. As it passed, I stabbed the beast in the side as it continued to charge, worsening the wound to it as it halted its charge several feet away. Turning my focus to the boar attacking Angelo, now backed against the cave, I raised my blade above my head, the tip poised towards the beast, plunging it down into the brute.Angelo was able to recover due to this, and quickly was back on his feet. The other boar, however, had taken no time to charge straight into the back of my legs, knocking me over and forcing me to crawl to the top of the cave entrance for cover, knocking an arrow in my bow. The boar flung itself towards Angelo, now not focused on me, and died mid charge due to an arrow shot and Angelo’s attack. We quickly harvested the meat and returned home to recover from our wounds.
  5. THE IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE RED DRAGON: ANGERED SPIRIT Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Highness, Pius of the House of Horen, Grand Knight of the Crown of Godfrey, 16th of Sun’s Smile. Penned by Knight Errant Tobias, 1690 OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT Reporting Knight: Ser Tobias Incident: Angered ancient spirit Individuals Involved: Bishop Rudolph, Ser Tobias, civilians Details of Incident: Upon wandering into the busy townsquare, I immediately heard the shrieks of the townsfolk. Investigating, an angered spirit was found to be attacking them, lunging itself at them with a corrupted weapon. Evidently, this spirit was ancient, and incredibly strong, causing cracks to travel within the stone and strong telekinetic force to ricochet, further damaging the buildings of the city and injuring the citizens. Bishop Rudolph was the first to step forth, shouting scripture at the entity in Flexio. I moved to stand by the clergyman, defending him from oncoming attacks. A wooden cross that the bishop wore began to glow, a curious barrier forming around us from an unknown origin. The bishop thinking it holy, he continued shouting, which angered the entity further. A deep black oozed from the spirit, the near-liquid mist oozing out from it, spreading around the area- killing one woman who wandered out from the barrier instantaneously. The enraged spirit swung its weapon down on the barrier, trying to destroy our one means of safety. I began shouting what bits of the Scrolls I knew, shouting the prayers I knew, an the handful of citizens inside began to follow suit, the barrier beginning to strengthen. The barrier held strong, and finally, when it seemed near-hopeless it flashed with a holy light, growing brighter, and it remained in place for as long as I and the citizens kept shouting prayers. The spirit, seeing that it now failed to penetrate the barrier, began to warp and distort, turning into the blackness, and so the attack was successfully repelled.
  6. THE IMPERIAL ORDER OF THE RED DRAGON: THE DIRE-BEAR OF HAENSE Issued and confirmed by His Imperial Highness, Pius of the House of Horen, Grand Knight of the Crown of Godfrey, 10th of Harren’s Folley. Penned by Errant Tobias, 1690 OFFICIAL IMPERIAL REPORT Reporting Knight: Ser Tobias Incident: Wild Dire Bear hunt Individuals Involved: Ser Avery, Ser Tobias Details of Incident: In the wilds of the Haensetian forests, Ser Avery and I trudged through the heavy snow, with the intentions of finding a beast to kill. With the winds picking up and a blizzard beginning to form, we decided to set up camp. This idea was short-lived however, and we had not even gathered wood for a campfire when a low, loud growl was heard from behind us. Craning my neck to see, I saw that I found what I was after: a massive direbear. We both leapt to our feet, Ser Avery unsheathing his longsword, and I gripping onto my polearm. The direbear was quickly upon us, launching forth with ferocity. When I was knocked back off the ledge and into the snow, Ser Avery boldly stood his ground, avoiding the blow and swinging his blade down into the shoulder blade of the wild beast. Hastily getting to my feet, I snatched my crossbow, letting loose a bolt into the fur of the raging bear as Avery swiftly succeeded in cutting a paw clean off. It wailed, collapsing on its side, struggling to get back up again. Not allowing it the chance to do so, I rushed forward, piercing the bear in its belly. In agony, it let out a ear piercing yowl, but still I pursued, and sunk the sharpened end of my weapon into the heart of the bear. Finally, the ravage animal fell silent, and its body went limp.

  9. THE ETERNAL WAR, 1687 The road was littered with corpses, the water diluted with red ichor - this was the aftermath of a Empire victory against the reemerging Reivers that had struck out against a Haense ball. The few survivors hid in their towers and forts like rats that needed to be routed out, so that is what must be done. A war council was convened shortly after and it was decided that once more the Reivers will be rooted out, butchered and once more made extinct which was a common occurrence for the lackluster fighters that struggle to win any fight. A second tower, that was ruined, was seen to house the pitiful Reiver bandits - so without hesitation the banners of the Empire were called once more, a plethora of flags flying high in the sky as they would march upon the second fortification just after the first. Each and every soldier confident that the Reivers, as always, would find themselves being dealt another loss.

Those who are witnessed or suspected of colluding with the bandits are hereby declared enemies of the State. This extends to both constituent territories and foreign nations. Though they die in droves, slain by the hands of the valiant men and women of the Empire, they always have yet another hole to retreat to, like the cowards they are. Henceforth, any individual who commits any of the following deeds is hereby deemed an enemy to the Empire. Creating a contract with the Reivers or Reiver affiliated branches.
