Born in Cyrilsburg, from his earliest days, Thomas Locke dreamed of travelling the world of Atlas. From the Jade Peaks to the Frozen Pines, there was nowhere Thomas did not wish to visit. His father was a merchant, living the boy’s dream of journeying across the known world, selling and buying exotic goods. Thomas always wanted to join the family business, and as soon as he came of age, his father took him in as an apprentice. His first voyage from home transfixed and perplexed him. He saw so many sights that were entirely alien to anything he knew from home. As time went on, Thomas became more and more skilled at his craft, eventually taking over the business after his father fell ill.
From that point on, Thomas would lead trade voyages in place of his father, sending money back home to support his family. He rarely returned home after this, always away somewhere. Eventually, his father succumbed to illness around Thomas’s 18th birthday, prompting him to travel home to be with his family. Losing his father changed Thomas greatly. Having missed the opportunity to be with his father in the end, he would decide to stay home permanently to be close to his family.
