  1. I can't wait for the ending where Xan and Azdromoth realise their feud was just a big misunderstanding and everyone lives happily ever after.

    Spoiler

Thank you to all the ST involved in this event as well as the many members of the community that have been putting in the work outside of the events.

  2. Frustration marks the face of the Golden Hearted Keeper, as she sees her comrades continue to bicker amongst themselves. "The petty squabbles these children find themselves in will lead only to ruin. Those too prideful to throw away past grudges and those too narcissistic to share the glory with their comrades, they MUST change if we are to truly unite as one under the banner of ORDER.

For it is Order that preserves us, and Light that guides our way."

  3. As those comets touch down upon the mortal realm a newly born vessel of the Sunlit Lord awakens as if from a hazy dream. A righteous fury bubbles beneath the surface of a calm demeanour as they look out upon a land tainted by darkness. Never has her duty been clearer to her than it is now

Briefly explain the lore behind this construct or creature:

The Subtype I am choosing is the Rakaal, or Brute subtype.

Zezimar are a playable CA in the Zar’ei class of demons they come in three subtypes
Malda the mage type, Kozun the knight type and Rakaal the brute type

Zar’ei are humanoid and of descendant intelligence and strength akin to that of the descendant they most resemble, a Rakaal will be on par with a typical Orc, a Kozun on par with a typical human and a Malda on par with a typical voidal mage

Zezimar are hellish and monstrous in appearance with snouts, additional limbs, chitin, horns, tails and fiery eyes all being some examples of the demonic traits a Zezimar may possess.
The horns a Zezimar possess are formed of bone however are not very strong but will regrow slowly over time if broken.
Extra limbs that the Zezimar may possess will divide their strength between those limbs, for example a Rakaal with four limbs would possess human equivalent strength in each limb.
Tails too can be used as a weapon however they are not prehensile enough to use additional weapons and may not deliver enough damage to cause fatal injury for example a Zezimar couldn’t crush someone to death with a particularly heavy tail.
Any natural armor they may possess such as Chitin or bone-like growths akin to their horns, will not be any more resilient than ceramic, which could potentially protect from bladed weapons with swords and axes chipping away at the armor, however blunt damage and munitions such as bolts from a crossbow will penetrate or crack the armor completely. Armor can not be worn over natural armor that has some kind of protrusion such as a spike or spine. Any weapon like limbs are akin to bone and will not penetrate platemail.

Zezimar can be killed in the same way any descendant can be, they will suffer the same with bloodloss, starvation, organ damage and open wounds. As a Zar’ei ages they will gradually take on a more ashy appearance though they do not die of old age.
Zar’ei require a diet of high protein in order to remain at peak strength, if they do not get enough protein their strength will wane.
A slain Zezimar will take 1 IRL week to reconstitute its body unless the Naztherack it is bound to revives them manually with an invocation.

Zar’ei have little regard, empathy nor sympathy for mortal souls as they view them as sustenance, playthings or a means to get what they want. Zezimar are selfish and self-serving and while capable of forming a reciprocal relation they would only do such for their own personal gain, any relationship formed with a Zezimar is certain to be innately toxic as any cooperation is merely for the Zezimar’s own goals and convenience.
Zezimar are bound to their Naztherack and thus may not outright refuse orders from them nor attack them, however Zezimar are crafty, prone to loopholing commands to avoid doing things they do not wish to do such as simple gruntwork.

Spells from holy magics such as Holy Affinity from Paladinism are significantly more painful to a Zezimar, causing a burning sensation, so too does holy aura inflict upon them a discomfort and disgust. For the purpose of holy magics Inferi are always considered a revealed dark creature.
Zezimar are as vulnerable to poisons as descendants and thus can be victim to azhl and thanic poisoning.
Zezimar are unable to disguise their demonic appearance, their nature being apparent to any that lays eyes upon them.

When a Zezimar is casting they must have some form of tell, each Zezimar subtype has a different pool of Maleus and has access to a different selection of spells with Rakaal having the least spells to choose from and the least Maleus and Malda having the larger selection of spells and a larger pool of Maleus.
Used Maleus will fully refresh every 12 IRL hours, aesthetic use of malflame does not consume Maleus.

Rakaal are the Brute type Zezimar and are comparable to mortal Orcs in strength and stamina, they may weigh no more than 400lbs and be no taller than 8ft. They only have access to the spells Vhiit and Rok-Kirluk and have a maximum maleus pool of 20, they may wear full plate mail and cast malflame spells.

Upon creation Zezimar inherently know how to undergo evolution and may share that information with their Naztherack and strike a pact to achieve their evolution. The Zar’ei must consume three mortal souls that do not belong to a Naztherack, the souls can be consumed from a killed player character which does not require a PK, alternatively they may siphon some soul essence from a consenting victim, leaving them with a burn scar at the site of siphoning and subjecting them to lasting nightmares, additionally they will feel weakened as if sick for 1 IRL week before the soul regenerates.
Once primed for transformation a Zarei will return to its lair where it will begin to change, flesh cracks and scars rapidly as their form shifts leaving them vulnerable as agony racks their form, their prior appearance will grow more demonic, grotesque and unnatural as their bodies evolve to compensate for the weakness of their subtype
Malda becoming less physically vulnerable, Kozun inheriting greater competency for sorcery and Rakaal gaining a +5 units of Maleus. As well an evolved Zezimar may gain no more than 1 foot in height, as well as other aesthetic changes such as lengthening horns or adding muscle mass. They also are allowed during this evolution to regrow any lost limbs, this is a one time thing and may only be done during evolution.

If a Zezimar is in an extreme amount of pain they will not be able to cast, though are able to cast through things such as cuts, scrapes and even cast while moving - though excessive dodging, stabs or maiming will prevent casting.
One may also emote speaking the incantation for a spell without typing out the incantation itself as to avoid metagaming.
The connection tell is persistent and does not have to be repeated for each spell, should the connection tell have already been performed it does not have to be repeated for each spell and thus subsequent casting counts go down by 1, removing the need to perform a connection tell each time. However if a Zezimar is knocked out of their connection via unconsciousness or grievous injury then they will need to re-establish the connection in order to cast again.
Naztherack and Inferi are immune to their own malflame and malflame may be put out by submerging it or smothering it in appropriate materials for 1 full emote.
Malflame burns feel as if the area is being pressed by a hot iron, the pain from malflame being on ones skin would interrupt nearly all actions such as melee combat or casting.
Malflame will slowly spread across skin however can not spread beyond cloth, armor or other skin coverings.
A character can not be killed by malflame.
Malflame burns appear as blackened patches and will faintly glow the color of the malflame that inflicted the burn.
Malflame burns will flare up randomly with pain for 3 OOC days, this can be roleplayed however the victim sees fit.
Malflame must make contact with a soul baring surface in order to harm, thus it will be ineffective against armor or even cloth.
Holy magic can heal malflame burns however blight healing from druids is only effective in the case of Epiphytes, soul trees and fae.
Malflame spells that have been shot out can be redirected or blown out by air evocation spells of T3 or higher.

If this construct or creature has some form of aesthetic choice, can you describe how they look?

The Brute type Zezimar would stand at 8ft weighing 400lbs, they would have two large horns that lead into a jagged bone-like growth that makes up their face, fiery red eyes and an orange-red flaming head of hair, as well as a row of jagged teeth and a lizard-like tail as well as a musculature on-par with a well trained Orc.

Aeolus of Khamees drops the missive in front of Amelia of Ahad. He picks up his morning cup of tea, waving it to and fro as he speaks, the contents swaying and near spilling, but never escaping the mug. "So- she was killed, yeah? And that means she died, yeah?" He'd wait a moment for that to sink in. "But the Lurin missive says he'll talk to her, but does that mean she's a ghost or did the necrotics revive her, Amelia?" A sip of tea was taken, he'd grimace and dump the rest. "If she was killed then she's dead, make it make sense Amelia..."

Later, the golden paladin would be knelt within the chancery, lighting the candles of those he had known and who had passed before him.

"Ours is not to reason why, but to do and to die." He'd remind himself, deciding politics were not for him.

A red haired elfess would give the missive a read as she listens to the ravings of her comrade, savouring a morning coffee she gives a response to the man "It doesn't make sense - Necrotic or geist we'll get to the bottom of it." With that the elf dons her armor and sets off for Lurin.

  14. Amelia receives her letter upon her return to the keep, a solemn expression plasters her face as she tucks the letter into her desk amongst a pile of precious documents.

"Another Brother falls silent. When you next awaken you will be welcomed by a new order."

A letter is penned by the Paladin that night and left in a sealed envelop at the feet of the sleeping giant.

"Justinian, I too feel the crushing weight of our duty upon me even more so now as I feel hope and faith has run thin across the continent. Enjoy your rest for you have earned it.

I will continue to do my duty to make the realm a better place for when you awaken, so that the weight of the world is not so crushing.

I do hope that by the time you read this letter the halls around you are alive with celebration and when next you see the sun its light will be so bright that no darkness could ever manifest within its wake again.

If however I am no longer around when you awaken then know that I did not lie down and rest, I will fight until my last breath and for every brother and sister that lays to rest I will fight twice as hard even as fatigue builds and exhaustion overtakes me.

This is my promise to you and to all of our Brothers and Sisters.

    - Your friend, Amelia."

What magic(s) will you be teaching?

             Paladinism

Describe this magic or a creature as a whole:

Paladinism is a three slot deific magic that ranges from tier one to tier five, each tier has a different amount of resources which they can use to cast, these being called Embers. In order of tier the amount each gets is 4, 6, 8, 10 and 14.
Once a Paladin casts enough embers to reach half of their max they begin to feel the negative effects of overuse of their magic, starting at exhaustion and fatigue and worsening until the Paladin loses consciousness.

The Paladin uses what are referred to as deific mists or Xannic mists to weave their spells, the Paladin first receiving a color of mist when they are connected, either gold, silver or emerald. Such can not be changed after a color has been chosen. These spells come in a wide variety from imbuing weapons with xannic fervour to add burning pain to their hits to summoning weapons forged from their mists to summoning barriers to protect their allies and creating traps as well as spells that create throwable projectiles with various unique properties.

The magic also includes ‘sacred artificery’ which allows the Paladin to bless and enchant weapons and objects, blessings come in the form of mostly minor passive effects that can be placed on most small trinkets and objects whilst Orisons allow the Paladin to imbue one of a small selection of their own spells onto an object so long as it contains a lightstone with which to infuse the enchantment.
Similar to the sacred artificery the Paladins also have access to Sunwells, an addition to the lore which allows for more ritual based spells which can allow them to blanket an entire region in constant sunlight, contact deceased Paladins or even trap an entity within the sunwell like a prison.

A Paladin is connected by their teacher performing a freeform ritual at a Paladin Chancery, either a shrine, temple or sanctuary (t1 chancery, t2 chancery, t3 chancery, respectively.) for a chancery to be advanced to the next tier a certain amount of students have to be connected at that chancery, for a shrine to advance to a temple it must have been used to connect three Paladins. At T2 a chancery is able to graduate T3 Paladins who have completed their trial of brotherhood to either Vindicator or Wyrmstalker, depending on which trial has been completed, the trial of sacrifice or the trial of the hunt. The ritual for graduating a T3 Paladin onto their archetype is freeform. For a T2 Chancery to advance to T3 a ritual must be performed by at least six unique Paladins as well as the Warden that created the Chancery in the first place, a sacrifice also must be prepared.
To create a Chancery a Warden (A Paladin who has been branded with the ability to perform disconnection and chancery creation) must perform the ritual to create a chancery with both a sacrifice and a reliquary to act as the focal point of the chancery.

Paladins also have the ability to purge curses from other characters and objects. This ability effects most curses however some require special conditions to purge, for example some may need the sacrifice of a lightstone, or may need multiple Paladins to perform the ritual, any event curses is up to the discretion of the event staff to determine what conditions, if any the Paladin would have to fulfill to purge the curse, if it is one that they can purge at all.

Paladinism has a weakness to voidal magics, voidal spells dealing more damage to Vindicators shields and barriers with up to T3 spells dealing one hits worth of damage, T4 dealing two hits and T5 dealing three. With attacks from Atronachs being twice as effective. The presence of a voidal horror would fill the Paladin with dread and fear as the feeling of warmth, comfort and courage from their ember is stripped away leaving them unable to cast lions roar as a result, the same effects also apply when a Paladin is within a voidal hollow.

Are there different sections or subsections of magic? Can those be elaborated upon?

There are three subsections of Paladinism, Vindicators, Wyrmstalkers and Sunwells.
Vindicators and Wyrmstalkers are both subclasses which the Paladin has to choose one of when they reach tier 3. Sunwells is an addition that adds several rituals to Paladinism.

Vindicators are frontline defensive fighters that focus on protecting their allies and attacking their enemies up close. Their spells include ones such as Marians Refuge and Guardians Bulwark which are defensive focused spells, Arknights rally which allows them to add a temporary Xannic fervour effect to their allies weapons, Vindication which is a close quarters offensive spell meant for dealing damage while grappling and finally Vindicators mantle which creates a suit of mist woven armor which provides magical defense though without any added physical durability, Vindicators mantle can also have one of three unique properties, chosen by the Paladin once they learn the spell, the Paladin can not change their choice once they have cast the spell for the first time and that augmentation of the spell will be the one they will use from then onwards.
One augmentation of Vindicators mantle provides a one time defensive ward against any one physical attack up to orcish strength or one instance of dark magic T5 or below.
Another augmentation allows for one to temporarily fall under effects equivalent to an acuity potion for four emotes after casting the spell.
The other augmentation gives the Paladin a temporary pain dulling effect for the duration of the spell.

Wyrmstalkers are focused upon crowd control and ranged attacks, having spells such as Heinryk’s binding which allows the wyrmstalker to either place a trap or chain their target from a distance, they also have access to spells such as dawn spear which allows them to pin a target with a non-damaging spear that prevents the target from casting dark magic for its duration, as well as Sun spear which is a thrown projectile which causes damage only to exposed darkspawn.

Sunwells are a ritual magic which revolves around the creation of a structure called a sunwell, this structure serves as the focal point for many rituals including ones that allow the Paladins to commune with their dead comrades as well as a ritual that allows them to seal an entity within a sunwell.

Paladins are also capable of using their mists to heal, being able to cast a minor version of their healing to heal shallow wounds, bruises, first degree burns and small lascerations. They can use a more advanced version of the spell to heal more serious injuries at the cost of more embers, being able to heal moderate lascerations, second degree burns, and moderate stab wounds. Mist healing is not however able to heal any fatal injury nor are they able to heal internal injuries. any injury they do heal will leave scar tissue in its place.

Mist healing can also take another form, the sunlit splint, which can be used to mend fractures and breaks of bones, drawing the broken pieces back together and creating an internal splint around them, strengthening the bone to the point where they can use the limb as normal, taking between a irl day and a half to two and a half irl days to heal the bone. If the bone takes a hit as strong or stronger than a punch then the bone would re-break and would be unable to be treated with sunlit splint again.

Can you give an example of a casting emote, of a spell of your choice?

    Example emote for Xannic Fervour

Amelia draws in a deep breath, letting it out slowly as silver mist begins to rise from her form, she draws a ferrum longsword from its sheath, holding it with both hands as she keeps a wary eye on her prey.

The mists would slowly drift down the length of the weapon, sinking into the metal and imbuing it with a silvery glow that signifies the imbuement of that holy mist into the weapon thus consuming one of the Paladins embers.

Amelia strikes down upon their enemy, aiming towards their exposed shoulder with a slicing motion, should the imbued weapon make contact the afflicted area would feel a painful burning sensation

Can you give an example of a teaching-emote (interacting with another) of a spell of your choice?

Amelia stood upon the cobbles of the training hall opposite her student, Bob. She approaches him as she speaks. “I trust you’ve been practicing since your last lesson?”

Bob gives a few quick nods. “That I have! Been practicing day in and day out”

Amelia clasps her hands together with a loud clap “Good! Then we can begin on the next spell, Xannic Armaments, this one is useful in a pinch, when you get disarmed or when you get your weapons taken away at the gates of a city. As usual I’ll start by explaining how the spell works whilst demonstrating it, then I’ll let you try your hand at it.”

Bob gives an eager look as he prepares for the coming information.

Amelia starts by connecting, wisps formed of silver lightning manifesting about her form. “Now, of course as with all spells you’ll want to connect first - after such you form your mists into the shape of a weapon - to start of with you’ll focus only on making whatever you’re most familiar with, however once you become a Vindicator or Wyrmstalker you can specialize in different weapons.”

One of those wisps that surrounded Amelia quickly formed a misty shape of a spear before solidifying, taking the appearance of a silvery glass, yet would be just as durable as its mundane counterpart. “Once you have formed it into the desired shape you solidify your mists - from this point it can be used for combat, be careful dropping it however as it will quickly demanifest, though it can still be used as a thrown weapon if you wish, though if you do throw it, no matter the weapon it will always deliver blunt force impact as it shatters upon striking your target. Otherwise it can be used as normal in melee.”

Bob steps forth, eager to try out the spell for himself, he begins by connecting, his emerald mists clumsily flowing down from his hands like a waterfall with an uneven flow.

Bob then begins to shape his mists - the weapon he’s most familiar with clearly being a shortsword as the mists take a rough outline of that shape - though their form is rough and incomplete - it’s clear it’ll take a little more effort to form.

Amelia remains quiet, letting her student focus as he appears close to making a breakthrough with the spell.

Bob’s brow sweats as his focus is unparalleled, the mist form becoming more clear as the glassy emerald sword solidifies before him, he grasps it by the handle and brandishes it proudly!

Say your student powergames during or after teaching, how do you reprimand that?

If powergaming occured during teaching then I would correct them and instruct them on the proper way of emoting as well as encourage them to re-read that section of the lore.

If powergaming occurred outside of teaching then I would tell them to void the emote, tell them how to correct it and give them a warning. if the behaviour persisted then I would inform ST of their repeated powergaming.
