Originally from the nobile family of Ammelianus, metellius was exposed to both the benefits and shortcomings of extreme wealth early on. He was taught objectivity and the virtue of justice, as well egalitarianism (excluding slaves, of course). Their neighbors were not happy living next to these degenerates, and rather rapidly his family members died in “tragic accidents” such as conveniently (and suddenly) broken down balconies, etc.. He was forced out of his estate, and saving what money he could “boarded” (paid to be smuggled onto) a colony ship to atlas, where he was taken under the wing of a Lucius Regnus, a mysterious yet kind man.
