Aeru Go'la was born in the time of Aegis, and lived a fairly simple life as a single child with his mother and father. He spent most of his younger days trying to follow in his father's footsteps and take up the family business, tinkering with simple machines and repairing broken tools. Around age 40, Aeru’s mother left him and his father for a human man, and Aeru's father fell into a depression. To avoid seeing him in such a state, Aeru was asked he go and set up his own workshop in some distant lands.
For some time he ran a small workshop in Winterfell, making just enough to live a comfortable life until it was vandalized by some unknown ruffians, again forcing him to move. Similar situations befell him over and over again, until he finally settled down living in the Princedom of Fenn. He keeps to himself more now, trying his hardest to avoid confrontation and hiding his assets in various caches nearby like a squirrel preparing for winter.
Much of this he doesn't remember though, as his mind is worn and battered with age. His younger friends would tell you he wasn't always as bitter and, er, eccentric as he is now. Around his corner of town he is frequently mocked for his outlandish claims, such as being the inventor of rope, or how he once beat back a giant lizard with his bare hands. He has recently taken it upon himself to “stay armed” by carrying around tens of pounds of scrap metal, twisted into bizarre and impractical shapes, often hidden beneath his clothes.
