Lyris was born on an farm near the border of Kaedrin, for most of her life she had admired the stories her parents told her of warriors, wizards and elves. She often dreamed of adventuring and all sorts of places. Her parents, however were understandly protective of her and kept her from wandering too far. Her father, who was a soldier in his youth, had taught Lyris a few basic combat skills to protect herself while her mother taught her healing. Lyris had fond memories of singing and dancing with her father while her mother played the lute.
However not everything lasts forever, one fateful day the farm was attacked by bandits. She and her family tried to flee, as fighting them would mean death. Sadly they were captured, one by one their throats were slit. And the last hing she remembered before blacking out was the bandits’ cruel laughter. When she woke up a traveler had tended to her after he had found her lying near her dead parents. Sadly this was not the only tragedy as she learned later that her voice is never coming back and bears a scar to remember that day. As a Highlander, her losing her voice was just as devastating as losing her family and previous life. Now she wanders carrying her mother’s lute doing odd jobs, such as playing her lute at inns, farm work for farmers and the occasional delivery.
