Zalaman grew up with his 3 older brothers in the city of Caras Eldar. He was taught in the profession of his father, Jalean Jadeleaf, in the art of bowcraft. The Jadeleaf family has a legacy of bowmaking, the craft and skill seeming to be passed down through their very genetics.
