Glóin, son of Gróin comes from a poor family in Kal’Varoth. His father was a drunk and gambled most of their income. He died when Glóin was 12 so Glóin and his younger brother Óin started doing small jobs early to keep food on the table.
When asked who his father was, he answers reluctantly and with slight disapproval in his voice. At the age of 19, Glóin started working in the mines. He never enjoyed a education, leaving him illiterate and without any skill in the arts of combat and culture. This did not halt his cravings for innovation and ingenuity. He designed and built many contraptions to ease the work of his mother, his automatic laundry dryer being one of his most proud inventions. Glóin has a close relationship with his mother and brother. He often bosses his brother around and lectures about values like honor and loyalty, compensating for the father figure they never had.
It is Glóin’s dream to become a smith’s apprentice, open up his own workshop and eventually become an engineer in the Legion.
