    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is when a character knows about something ( that they wouldn't normally know ) because the player read about it. ( Example: The guard knows where the thief is hiding because the player read it in the chat )
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is when a character does unrealistic actions that have overpowered outcomes, that also limit the reaction of others ( Example: The guard throws his spear through the fortified door. The door breaks, and the spear lands into the thief's head killing him )

As she stepped out of the boat, she took a deep breath... Looking around, seemengly pleased with what she saw, she continued moving forward. As she saw the man approach, she stopped in her tracks to see what he wanted.

 

"Welcome!” He began. “What brings you to this lovely city? Adventure? Wealth? Or some grand aspirations to elevate your place in society?”

 

Axenia stood still, and looked quite confused at the man. A few moments of silence followed, as her judging gaze inspected the man:

"I'm not sure how to respond. To be honest I didn't except to be asked such idiotic questions right away... I'm not sure from what upside-down ' ' society ' ' you come from, but where I'm from we don't randomly ask strangers about such personal things."

 

"That is a rude thing to say" the gentleman said

 

Axenia would attempt to cut him off " Wait, wait , wait... I'm rude? What about you? Eh??? It's not like I'M the one who asks strangers about their favorite color! It's ridiculous to even THINK to do so!

Just use your brain for a bit, would ya? Think, a random person walks up to you and asks about your financial status... Isn't that suspicious?"

 

"It would be odd..." the man said

 

"See!... Now please, stop doing that, it's weird." Axenia said walking off into the market, visibly baffled by what happened.
