Born to a dysfunctional farming family of 5 in the Balian Kingdom, Pyncroft spent his childhood playing pranks, exploring the streets, and taking dares while avoiding his chores. His parents, unable to beat the unruliness out of him, disowned him at an early age. His boisterous behavior continued and he was ousted by his Farfolk community shortly after, never to return.
Now a drifter, Pyncroft took interest in sailing the seas. He joined his first crew through an advert at age 17 as a deckhand.
From thereafter, Pyncroft spent nearly all of his adulthood with vessels and crews of all kinds. Hopping from boat to boat, he became a masterful seafarer; he could steer a skiff or helm a warship, repair a hull, hoist sails, navigate, cast nets, and evade pirates.
Aboard a merchant ship, a bitter disagreement between the captain and Pyncroft stranded him and his belongings at an unfamilar harbor. Taking it on the chin, Pyncroft interpreted it as a sign to direct adventurous spirit landwards.
Pyncroft stares at him skeptically,
"How's it any of yer business, ya lubber?" He grumbled, unphased by the man's questions.
He listens to the man as he elaborates. He hesitates before he answers, but is assured by the gentleman's apparent wealth.
"Hehehe.. I only kid, aye!" He laughs heartily, patting the shoulder of the man. "What's this about wealth, now?"
The two men converse briefly.
"Ay, I'll be sure to check it out now!" Pyncroft enthusiastically grips the man's hand, firmly shaking it with both arms. "May fair winds follow yeh!"
