In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: To avoid power gaming you must understand that your character is not better than anybody else's, and is not a god compared to other individuals., To make sure it's fair, ensure everyone in the role-play setting is comfortable with your character's actions. You cannot force people to agree with your wants for your character, including actions or decisions. You cannot bend the storyline to fit perfectly with your character or ignore other people's wishes in the storyline. Limit your character's abilities, they can't be superhuman and do something physically impossible that affects other characters. Overshadowing people is never a good thing, so we must make sure we don't let this happen so everybody has a good time. We are all here to have fun, how will roleplay be fun with a power grip over their heads? Thats no good.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: It would give an unrealistic roleplay if your character had never been told this information in the first place. How can your character possibly know something YOU know? It's not like you can go and tell. This doesn't benefit anybody other than yourself, this fact is selfish. It most likely doesn't even do justice to your character. It also makes for confusing roleplay, how on earth did we get from a stable roleplay to this odd plot line someone made for their own character's benefit? For example, if I told someone in VC I was at a market in a certain location, that person couldn't use that information to find my character. They would have to find out through in-character means. If they were to locate my location using what I said out-of-character, that would throw off the roleplay completely. It wouldn't make sense at all, ruining the plot. It's similar in real life, how would someone know where if I didn't tell them? They would not know. This should also come into play in character.

Character Name: Sontar Daegolor
Character Race: Dark Elf
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 21
Physical Description: The elf is 5'10, and his weight is 200 pounds. He has red eyes and white hair. His clothes seemed to be dirty and ripped, showing signs of struggle.
Roleplay Scenario:

Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

The man eyes her for a second, questioning if he should test his fate and take a seat like the old lady requested of him. He never took orders very well, he didn't like them. But he might as well kill time, no? His twin sister is off doing god knows what, and he isn't interested in waiting around doing nothing. He had a serious look plastered on his face, red eyes glaring down at the seat before he slowly sat down on it, his shoulders tense.

Slowly, Sontar's lips curled up into a sly smirk. One leg crossed the other whilst his body relaxed, his elbow against his knee until he happily placed his chin on his palm. "A true honor to know you have been awaiting my arrival. . . I think." he snickered before he cleared his throat. The man wasn't too fond of sharing his little life story, but he could be careless right now. He was tired and hungry, he'll have future him facepalm at his choices later. "I'm a runaway." He said plainly, his voice carrying a serious ring to it. His fingers drummed against his cheek softly, his eyes never leaving her. He was worried this lady would launch at him, but he was ready for a fight if so needed.

His dark skin seemed to glow with the hue of the candles that rested in the air, adding more to his looks. What a charmer!

"My parents wanted to stick up to our ancestor's old ways. . . Stay in the dark," he practically huffed, red eyes rolling into an annoyed expression. He then quickly snapped back to his composed serious behaviour. "I didn't want to grow up in the pitch darkness, so I left with my twin sister." He explained his history as if it was nothing. Sure, it was hard. Imagine leaving your own home to soak in the sunlight without care, but now having to suffer the fate of being without a home, without care of a family. Though the dark elf was sadly used to his life now, going from town to town... That's just how he lived now.

Silence drowned them, as he didn't dare utter another word. Why would he? He said all that was requested from him. Sure, he's been through more. . . But he wasn't interested in telling an old woman with creepy eyes the rest of his fun little life. He's never got the chance to meet others, and even if he did, it was for a quick moment, a short tell of words before he was on his way with his twin sister. That's all he had in life, his sister. He only knew how to talk to her, no one else. Call it being shy, if you will. The man only gets shy once in a while. His sister was practically his best friend. His only family, his only friend. Then how come he was able to talk to this lady without his shyness coming out? Well, his sly smirk and expressions were able to hide a lot. But soon enough, he felt the ping in his chest. He didn't want to speak anymore.

The white-haired man jumped onto his feet, waving his fingers at the creepy lady. "That's it. Bye." was all he gave before leaving as fast as he came.

What else could await him in the near future? Well, he hopes it's food. Or a bed.
