Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Maeyon Ayze sits there on the cushion staring blankly at the floating candles for a long moment, not moving, not even blinking much, until the old hag clears her throat loudly. Only then does it slowly dawn on him that she's looking right at him and waiting for an answer. He shifts awkwardly, hands fidgeting in his lap as he finally mumbles in a thick, slow drawl, “I don't got no parents that I remember, just been on my own since I was little little, first at an orphanage far away from here, then as a older kid I was sleeping' in barns and stuff, just findin whatever work I could. One day I was fixin' a broke fence on a stable, hammerin' nails real slow and careful, and that's when I first seen the horses up close, just standing' there lookin' pretty. I like sitting quiet watchin' em chew. I’m just a simple builder who likes watching’ horses. Gray ones, white ones, and black ones, but I stay clear of them reddish brown kind ever since one bit me bad as a kid. When I finish buildin' something' it stands up good mostly, but if it falls I just start over again, that's how my days go. Got lost on the road lookin’ for work, ended up here in this place…” He trails off, staring blankly at his muddy boots with no extra thoughts in his simple head. The old hag, unimpressed and slightly confused just nods and walks away, as Maeyon Ayze smiles, looking up at the floating candles.
