In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?:
Powergaming is the act of unfairly creating scenarios or actions that give an unfair advantage to your character other others, most commonly in combat situations. These actions could include repetitively dodging every single combatative action taken against your character, acting on behalf of someone else's character within your action (EG. He would unsheath his broadsword, swinging at the armored male infront of him. It would pierce his armor and cause him to fall to the ground, writhing and screaming. An action where you are taking control of another's character). It removes the element of individuality in roleplay and prevents genuine storybuilding and character development. Overall making things unfair.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming is the act of using information you gained from written sources from places such as Discord, Bios or the forums to take that information in character and use it unfairly. This uses something your character shouldn't or would not be able to know and uses it to gain an in character advantage. This could include being sent coordinates to a settlement and heading straight there with the intention of raiding it, with no in character knowledge, or using name tags and Bios to identify someone who is in full covering armor with no identifiable features. When role-playing it is best process to only use the information that you are sure your characters know, and clarify if youre unsure.

While the Archonate of Fenn was settled within the cold north of the continent, the warmth of it's people had always been one to keep everyone going. Fylson had grown up there, simply as a chore boy in his youth, fetching herbs and other resources to help his settlement in even the coldest of nights, community was something he valued deeply. Throughout his childhood he had lost his father and mother to war, his father a brave soldier and mother a caring medic. It was the community that raised him, and one he wanted to give back to dearly. As he grew he began training with worn dummy half frozen in snow, with an old training sword he'd spend hours attempting to land a hit that would even so much as come close to toppling the old dummy, but the freeze combined with his still growing strength made it feel almost impossible. He spent most his days out in the wilderness, becoming accustomed to it as he collected medicinal herbs, food and supplies, often spending months away at a time visiting cities across the continent gathering wares and trading with strangers. It wasn't until recent he returned to the Fenn to settle down, planning to join the military to get a change of pace, and protect those who had protected him growing up.

Character Name: Fylson Kathuath
Character Race: High Elf
Character Gender: Male
Character Age: 38
Physical Description: Fylson is a broad, male high elf. Standing above average height with striking purple-hued eyes. He wore low tier iron-forged armor.
Roleplay Scenario:

The traveller has just arrived in a small town. As they look around, their gaze is met with run down houses and shops. They duck into one of the shacks, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the small room, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town?" She begins, then pauses to study their face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a chair, “Where do you come from? What do you hope to make of yourself?” The high elf ducked into the run down shack, greeting the older woman with a nod. He felt her gaze fall upon him almost immediately, Fylson swallowed heavily before choosing his words in the common tongue. "I am here to trade wares, I am from the north of this continent, the climate is very different." He chuckled, still not used to the average temperature, which felt scolding compared to what he was used to. He reluctantly took a seat in the room, not wanting to come across as rude. "This place is quite peaceful, thankfully I haven't run into trouble." He smiled. "I have just managed to purchase some medicinal herbs from a distant town, and they've come in handy. I'll be bringing them home shortly. I thank you for your hospitality." He bowed his head slightly. "Alas, I should really be going.."
