How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Metagaming is when you use out of game knowledge to benefit your in game character. This is bad because your ingame character shouldn't know these things.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Powergaming is when you take away your opponents choices, especially in emote combat. Instead of swinging at someones arm, cutting it off, you should emote: swings at arm with intent of cutting it off.
