You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
"My story? I'm not entirely sure... A few days ago, I awoke in a hut in the forest with a wizard looking over me. He asked me if I remembered anything, who I was, where I came from, and all I could remember was someone calling me 'Alora'. He told me the key to finding out who I am was to travel here..." I look around nervously. "It would seem as though you may have some of the answers I've been looking for if you've been expecting me. At the very least, you seem like you'd be able to send me further on my quest to find the missing pieces in my memory."

In your own words, what is powergaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: To avoid powergaming in roleplay, avoid unrealistic or unfair actions. For example, instead of emoting "Alora steals from the pocket of the barmaid without drawing any attention," a more appropriate emote would be "Alora attempts to steal from the pocket of the barmaid unnoticed." and accepting the potential outcomes. Another example would be instead of emoting "Alora slices the head off of the troll with ease," a more appropriate emote would be "Alora swings her sword at the troll's head in an attempt to cut it off." and again, accepting the potential outcomes.
In your own words, what is metagaming, and why should it be avoided in roleplay?: Metagaming disrupts fair roleplay by using outside knowledge to influence something a character would not do/know. For example, if the character "Alora" went from having no knowledge of gnolls to an extensive knowledge of gnolls after I read about them outside of roleplay, that would be unfair as "Alora" should not have that knowledge. This is avoidable by keeping your knowledge and your characters knowledge separate.
