    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: If i cant do it irl then its not possible

A rogue killed off a ton of his friends and family, including his father, which left him to inherit his father's crossbow, which he then spent many hours modifying and practicing with, making it more accurate and powerful as well as becoming better at using it. He was quite fond of participating in archer competitions in his home Kingdom. Unfortunately, he was forced to flee with only his crossbow after he was framed for the murder of a wealthy man of his home Kingdom, forever forced to flee and use a fake name, and he can only hope that one day he may return, clear his name and be reaccepted into his former home.
