You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"I didn't realize I was expected" Briar looks around, not afraid at all of the mysterious lady who claimed to recognize him. "well.. there's not much to tell" He looks around at his surroundings taking it all in with a solemn face. "My father was a soldier for the guard before he settled in plainsgrove" Briar stopped looking around and settled his gaze on the woman "I grew up in a small town, as many people do. Though, mine was struck by plague." Gladstone paused, not quite knowing much he should share. "It killed my mother.... and a lot of the children in my town too. So when I was twelve I finally had friends to play with. Of course they were all little tods." Briar chuckled, then turned melancholy again "I cared for them deeply, my Father and I didn't have much in the way of our farm. But we gave what we could." A long silence protruded before Briar spoke again. "The plague struck again, this time when I was older. Old enough to see the children...the friends I knew and cared for die...choking in their own blood." Briar looked up at the woman, his face darkened. "I lost everything I cared about in life, my father couldn't take the stress and hung himself." Briars face now looked strained "I took his armor from the barn and left. Now I just want peace. I want to save as many lil' tods I can, however I can." He got up and started to walk away from the tent. He turned back and looked once more at the woman. She looked a lot like his mother, though, she didn't carry herself the same way.
