Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

*He wiped muddy sweat from his brow, certainly not knowing who this old lady was. He gulped as he sat with her by the fire* "m..me? oh uh.. why m- oh,.. okay" He felt it was in his best interest not to deny the lady when she said to sit, so he sat. His breathing was heavy, mainly due to the fact that the wetlands' air quality was so poor. Swamps were always bad this time of year.. so.. dense. He looked the lady up and down, "A story? Like any basic story or.." he studied her face, realizing what she truly wanted. He sighed and thought for a moment "Do you have any leather or something you don't need? I like to practice my suturing to keep me concentrated.." he admitted, half expecting the lady to tell him no. She placed a banana peel in front of him, and he sighed again.

He began with his sutures, being slow and deliberate only because he had a long story to tell. "Well.. It all started 18 years ago-" he was cut off by the hag "This isn't a fairy tale, tell it like its true" he cleared his throat "yes ma'am.. I was born 18 years ago in a society of survival.. er the Mali'fenn. . I'm a high elf.." he said awkwardly pausing before continuing: "I grew up in the cold.. family members.. friends.. loved ones died quite frequently from this cold, of course it is natural to do so. Thats why I'm short actually..  built this way so I'm not freezing my tail off in the snow. Anyways, I grew up with a mama and father.. and 3 older siblings. Being the youngest meant I was of course mama's favorite.. My older siblings didn't like that, but I don't think they took it too to heart. I got nearly anything I wanted as long as it was practical and easy to achieve.. though.. I guess I was a tad spoiled.."

The hag yawned "Hurry up with this story" she said not expecting this elf to be so long winded. He gulped and sped up his suturing to match his story: "Well as I grew up, I wanted to get out of the snow. Sure that meant leaving my family behind, but that's better than waiting to succumb to the arctic wastelands of the north. I became an apothecary's assistant at the age of 16 and learned under him medicines, herbs, useful things I wish I had known in the north. And now.. I'm in search of a permanent home. I heard the princedom of caurost will be nice.." *he finished his suture and peered out of the window to see the sun rising* "well.. with all due respect.. I think it will be best I head that way now.. it was lovely chatting with you ms?" he turned around and the hag was gone.. an interesting turn of events, but he grabbed his bag and set off again to his hopeful home.
