Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"Hm, pleasure to meet you. Name's Exul- I hail from a ways out Northwest from here. I'm here on business of my family the Krahes with the goal of becoming a knight. I've set out under my parents' help with hope of achieving notoriety to bring wealth back to them."
She nods and points to a larger looking cabin. It is of higher quality than some of the other less than humble abodes- many shacks and tents strewn across the area.
"You'll find that the large cabin over there offers temporary residence for a fee. Before that, might I ask why you've traveled so far?"
He nods. "Back home there's not much to be found in terms of notoriety, the village is fairly small with a population of just around a hundred folk or so. I'm hoping to help develop the land and allow us to better prosper- the land has great potential for living but the terrain is underdeveloped."
She gleams a curious look at him before turning around and ruffling through a pouch next to her. She pulls out an odd-looking trinket and hands it to him. "Tell that old fart that Merideth sent you and give him this. He'll have no choice but to offer a discount for the night, heheh. I like you, young man. May your travels be well worth the time you seek."
She then ushers him out of the tent, and he begins off to the cabin.
