You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
*Bewford takes a seat on the cushion, keeping eye contact with her as he already begins to tell her his story.*
"My name is Bewford Berry, nice to meet you. I was born on the tranquil island of Balmira, a place where emerald-green hills met the crystal-clear waters of the surrounding sea. The island, though small, was known for its close-knit community and the warm-hearted people who inhabited it. My family owned a quaint little shop, nestled near the shore, where they crafted and sold handmade goods. From intricate carvings to beautiful textiles, the shop was a treasure trove of the island's artistry. From a young age, I found myself enchanted by the art of creation. My father, a skilled artisan, spent countless hours teaching me the delicate craft of carving and the secrets of weaving."
*He shimmies a bit in the cushion, getting himself more comfortable to sit and talk for a while. He looks away from her, not particularly looking at anything as he verbally reminisces his past.*
"As I grew older, I became an integral part of the family business, working side by side with my father in the shop. Balmira's residents were a diverse bunch, each person contributing a unique skill to the island's vibrant culture. My craftsmanship became well-known throughout the community, and the shop began to draw visitors from neighboring islands. Despite the recognition, I tried to remain humble, finding joy in the simple act of creating something beautiful with my hands." *He breaths in.* "As the years passed, Balmira faced unforeseen challenges. The island's once-plentiful resources began to dwindle, and the community felt the strain. I, determined to help my family and neighbors, dedicated myself to finding innovative solutions. I spent countless nights experimenting with new materials and techniques, striving to make the most of what the island could provide."
*He looks up as he recalls more details, twiddling a button on his vest as he did so.*
