Mac’s mother has always been sickly since an early age. As a result, he’s had to do all the cooking and work around the house. His father did low-skill work in order to support the family after returning from the AIS war on the side of Helena. Because he stayed busy taking care of his mother, he had little time to socialize with friends, often only leaving the house for groceries. He came to enjoy the routine of cooking and cleaning, eventually teaching himself to read in his free time. As time went on, the small village outside of Helena that he lived in started being raided more and more, which forced him and his family to move into the city with the start of the Sutican war and the Hangedmen's raiding. The move was rough on his mother, causing her health to deteriorate rapidly. She ultimately died around a year later. Because he had been around her every day, witnessing her deteriorating health, Mac was prepared for her death. His father, stricken with grief at the loss of his wife, died shortly thereafter. With no remaining family, Mac had no choice but to set out to pave his own way in Helena.
