You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
"Well, my feet hurt. I don't know why they sent me out this far, I don't get paid enough for this, that's for sure." Binnish plops himself down on the cushion and takes a bottle out of his bag and quickly takes a drink. Wiping his mouth he stretches out his legs and begins to explain. "I'm here on a surveying mission. Just gotta take a look around, take a few notes, and head back home. I shouldn't be here for long, don't worry. I assume you're the one to show me to where I'm staying?" Binnish asks, already reaching for a pen and paper. As he starts to speak, he glances around the tent interested, and starts to scrawl on the pages. "Bit of a boring job, don't you think? Just visiting random places and leaving after a while. Never staying put, never making roots. I'll take this over an apprenticeship any day though. Besides, its not too bad. I get to travel, and it's not like anyone's waiting up for me to get home." Binnish hums to himself, glancing over his shoulder at the open doorway and to the open night sky. In the back of his mind he hears the faint voice of Lance, his long time partner. "Think about what you want, and I'll stick around just for you." He sighs, scratching out something in his book. "Lets get to work, shall we?"
Binnish works this travel job exploring and essentially journaling the world as a way to pay for a future with his partner. He comes from almost nothing, and only now has motivation to make a life for himself after meeting Lance.
