Karl was born into a large family in Providence, he had 7 siblings, his father was a city guard who would in his spare time train Karl and his brothers to teach them how to defend themselves. When Karl was young he often quarelled with his father, but as he grew up he gained more and more respect for his father because of his martial prowess. When he was a child he laughed a lot and was always making jokes and having fun, but at the age of 11 his mother who raised him and his siblings died from a cold. Since then his oldest sister mostly took care of their family with the help of their father. After his mother died he became cold and distant to most people, and on his face you would mostly see a serious and sad face. Life was hard and him and his siblings had to work whatever that would pay just to survive. Karl worked as an assistant to a local shop owner, he became good friends with the shop owner who taught him some tricks in life. After work he would often go to the tavern with his best friend Michael to play cards, drink and cause mischief until one day Michael tried to  cheat in a game of cards, but one of the players found out and lashed out on Michael and beat him up, the man that was a known drunkard in the area where Karl lived and was critical of the Church of Canon, which caused Karl to always argue with him when they would meet each other about the Church and turned Karl into a fierce supporter of the Church.
