Raum lived most of his life with his father and mother. They lived a few miles away from the city of Norland. Raum's father was away from home most of the time going on adventure of his own. But Raum's father still came to visit them from time to time. Raum did half of the chores whenever his father wasn't home. He helped with cooking, did the groceries and went out to collect wood.
Raum was always an active kid. When he had free time he would go outside running and playing with other kids he found. He was especially close to one of the kids named Axel. Axel and Raum became best of friends and would spend most of their time together. Their favourite activity was sparring. They liked to show each other how strong they are. Unfortunately for Raum, Axel would always be victorious even though Raum would always have an advantage due to Axel having an extremely painful disease that he kept as a secret. Axel would tell Raum stories of battles and wars such as the Tenth Nordling War. Raum would gladly listen to Axel's stories. Maybe there was even hints on how he could become stronger.
On a rainy day, Raum would learn the truth of his best friend's, Axel's, disease. Axel's mother came to inform him a few hours after she found him dead in his bed. Raum was devastated by this and couldn't believe his ears. A few days later Raum went to help with Axel's burial. Raum swore to become stronger not only for his sake but also for the person he considered a brother.
Raum would look at the stranger in the eyes as he replied. "I have come to witness the strength and combat ability of this city."
