    How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: Meta-gaming is the use/mention of information obtained while not in character during role-play, when your character should have no knowledge of the information.
    How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: Power-gaming is when you act in a way that is over powered, or untrue/ unrealistic to your characters ability, giving them powers or abilities they do not have.

She steps back, slightly started to have been greeted so soon. She smiles at the man, excited to have someone so friendly be the first person she has met, in this unfamiliar bazaar. She responds,  “It’s a delight to meet someone so cheery! I’ve arrived to begin searching for a place to call home, and if you could offer some assistance it would be much appreciated”. She listens to every word he has to say, absorbing as much information as she possibly can, knowing it might one day come in handy.

  • Replace the “I”’s in your roleplay scenario with “She/her/hers” in the action portions, just to make it a bit more clear.
