Chadius Gorn, was born in a village surrounded by forests, somewhere in Norland. His father was a carpenter, and his mother stayed home and looked after him and his father. His mother would teach him the languages of the world, because Chadius's mother once dreamed of traveling Almaris. Chadius was contempt to grow up a carpenter's son, and carry the torch. During his time in his village, he met a boy named Ludth who aspired to be a ranger and guard the forest around the village. Ludth trained under his grandfather, who was also a ranger, and wished for his son to carry the torch as well. Chadius also trained with Ludth for fun, but could never reach the same level of swordsmanship. One night, their village was pillaged by solders during the Sutican War. The solders were brutal, killing people house by house. Then burning the houses. Ludth was quick to react, waking up, taking one of his grandfathers sword, who was already fighting, and fight his way to the Gorn's residence. Chadius's father was quick to take a hammer and challenge the invaders, being swiftly killed by the solders. Ludth fought to ensure Chadius's escape, and succeeded, but died. Chadius blames himself for letting Ludth die for him, and his powerlessness to save his village. He thinks it would have been better for Ludth, the better swordsman, to have taken his place in living. He vows revenge against the government that destroyed his home. He traveled around, looking for ways to take his revenge, frequently being beaten and robbed by bandits, and only ever finding a crazed man yelling about alchemy.
