You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
((How do you respond?))
I accept the invitation and sit down on the cushion rather carefully trying to not disturb anything around me. "Well, you can say that I'm an exile" I rest my elbows on my knees and get more comfortable sitting down. "Long ago, when I was only months old, my parents put me against a rather medium sized spider. Other Orcs would describe it as a small teeny weeny one, however I assure you, this one was pretty big. Any-who, I tried approaching it but as it started scurrying toward me, I covered my eyes and trembled in fear. You can say that my parents weren't that enthusiastic with this and they threw me out." I scratch my chin and look down. "They left me in the nearby forest, south of the Iron Horde." I look up and with a deep fiery passion in my eyes I say, "Since then, I've resented them for it. I don't wish to prove to them but to myself, that I can conquer my fears, and defend myself against anyone or anything, and I'll do it, no matter the cost." I shake my head to calm myself down. "Anyways, I was found by a man who fortunately enough, was exploring the woods some time after my abandoning. He taught me many things about the wild and how to survive. He taught me more or less on how to settle disputes peacefully and when needed, violently. He was a great man, who had gone through worse situations. Since he was human, I eventually outlived him, and he left me with most of the knowledge I have today. Since then, I've just been wandering, going where the roads take me. And that, till now, has led me here... However, I find it strange to hear that you've been expecting me..." I tilt my head curiously "Who are you?"

How do you avoid powergaming in roleplay?: To avoid it, I'd maintain communication with the other role-player to see if what I'm doing is fair or not. To avoid a power-gamer who isn't me though, I'd kindly tell them that what they wish to do isn't exactly fair and that we can hash it out and come to a compromise for the sake of roleplay continuity and general enjoyability.
How does metagaming disrupt fair roleplay?: It makes everything more annoying than it needs to be and is just a general nuisance to roleplay. Knowing things that your character shouldn't just ruins the core purpose of RP and is (to me) a very childish thing to do.
