Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
Elsbeth looks confused for a moment, why the old hag was expecting her? she's just a farmer, she's not a hero, a mercenary, a valiant soul of any sorts, she's just plain and old boring Ellie, but who she was to deny the hag? "I um...." Elsbeth was thinking of the right words to say, how to make a simple life look something incredible and worth telling? "Erm....well, my name is Elsbeth, Elsbeth Oakenshade, my family is from a long line of merchants, traders and farmers, and i believe im no different." Elsbeth frowns a little, her family used to partake in several trades....now as for Elsbeth....selling pies, flowers, herbs, spices, accessories, it doesn't seem as glorious as the things those who came before her managed to get their hands on, but still....
She scratched her arm, perhaps a bit uncomfortable, she did not sit at the cushion and decided to instead stay right where she was. "I...usually travel around alot, selling my goods, mostly desserts, dishes, food for hungry travellers and adventurers, someone has to keep the bellies of that lot full eh? why not me." Elsbeth shrugs. "Its....pretty much that really, im a merchant, a cook, a herbalist at times....its a good life, a simple life, i dont think i would ever change it for something else."
"Hum...can i go now? you are....really creepy and....erm.....if you're interested, i have a satchel with some herbs i've collected?" Elsbeth smiled at the Hag, maybe she will not leave here empty-handed.
