You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

I sit down across from the hag and begin to speak "I am a mercenary who hails from a coastal village in Haense. In my youth I helped my father, who was the local blacksmith, around the forge. I grew up around swords and eventually learned my way around one along with getting in the occasional fist fight. As I got older I did not want to spend my days slaving over the forge so I set out as a mercenary to use the skills I've picked up to not only make money, but also see the world."
