Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"My story! Ha! Surely you don't want to listen to little old me drone on about my terrible backstory..." Jayanti trails off with a tense in her shoulders, feeling the memories flood back into mind. "Ahem. Well, my father was a pirate. A cheat, a snitch, a- a terrible man! So terrible that he dumped my poor Mother on a deserted island when she was pregnant with me! I grew up with her teaching my about the outside world, and I really hoped that one day I could see it. And here I am... the outside world." Jayanti paused, smelling the air. "Smells like rotting fish here. No offence, of course. Ah, anyways, you might be wondering about my eyepatch, hm? It's kind of a hard topic, but-" She stopped abruptly, choking back a sob. "I got into a shark attack when I was 12 and my mother saved me... unfortunately, she couldn't save herself."
