Ivaldi Firebeard was once a priest of the Kirkja Dverga. In fact, it was at the temple that he met his wife, a mountain dwarf named Gerdra Ironheart. Ivaldi loved her deeply and for many years they were happy together. One day, Ivaldi's brother Eitri grew jealous of him and his wealth and conspired against him. When Ivaldi was away on temple business Eitri murdered Gerdra and made it look like the result of an Orc raiding party. He publicly accused Ivaldi of fleeing in cowardice before the Orcs and abandoning his wife to her fate. Ivaldi was enraged and challenged his brother to a duel to clear his name. Ivaldi won the the duel, but in his rage he did not back down once Eitri had surrendered. He continued his onslaught and slayed his brother. He was then charged with murder and banished from his home. These days he mostly keeps the company of Humans and avoids dwarves, especially those he recognizes from back home. He has also since abandoned his faith and priesthood, seeing no use for gods as they did not save his wife. Instead, he decided to pursue knowledge of the arcane arts, vowing to take power into his own hands from then on.
