In 1725, years after the War of Two Emperors, Haider Mason (human) met an adventuring Elf leading to an intimate affair. The relationship continued for about a year, until the Elfs wife discovered the connection between the two. Haider tried to keep the relationship between them as she had become pregnant. However, the Elf, who had been banished from his home as a result, was never to be heard from again. Ayre was born a bastard child, raised on the outskirts of the Royal City of New Reza by his single mother. A highlander at heart, Ayre never was used to the sophisticated lifestyle his mother provided for him. His intentions of one day leaving the city behind clear by constant excessive exercise, periodic voyages to the north, lack of friends and frequently questioning the identity of his father. Haider never appreciated the constant questioning, ventures or disregard for taking his place in middle class society. However he may have acted, she supported him to the best of her ability and encouraged his individuality. Ayre did not reciprocate his mothers feelings, even if they were in his favor. He could not imagine the love between Haider and her lover that would have resulted in his unfortunate birth.

One evening, Haider became deathly ill, almost out of the blue. Until now, Ayre had not realized all that his mother had done for him. He broke down in tears at his mothers side, apologizing for his behavior and vowing to become a man she could be prowd of. Despite the best efforts of the best physician and Ayre, Haider passed away two weeks later. At the death of his mother, Ayre the Halfbreed swore that he would clear the controversy surrounding their family and make a name for himself among men. Ayres true journey began here, moving away from his home and working to answer the questions that were always in the back of his mind... Who really am I and what am I capable of? Who is my father? Little did Ayre know, his adventures would lead to a chance encounter with his half-brother, Dagnir Castherik.
