Your character has just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As they look around, their gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. They duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? She begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

"I was a foundling, a farmer picked me up out of his crops when I was two years old" Tanaka says with a dark expression. "Me and my adopted mother and father lived very happily together for a very long time. Then when I was ten, mother had a baby, my beautiful little sister Ellie," Tanaka tenses up a little. "I still remember reading books with her on the living room floor..." Tanaka starts shaking, and a single tear rolls off his cheek. "She cared for everyone so much..." he tenses up more. "Alright Tanaka get to the point. We were riding once, at night, through the field, when we heard a scream from the house. The bandits were pounding at the door and stabbing it with knives," He starts shaking again. "I told Ellie to stay, and I raced towards the bandits. right when I got there, they kicked down the door. Just as suddenly though, one man felt cold, sharp iron erupt from his chest, as I jumped off my horse, dashed up behind him and stabbed him through the heart," Tanaka freezes at the mention of this man. "The other bandits ran away, horrified. My sister rode up and told me I was a hero, I said no, what I had done was brilliant, but terrible. Tanaka quotes himself. "Wait who was this? Oh no its the head of a small army of bandits, I told them, as the war horn sounded," His expression turns cold. "I fought them off as best I could but, *sob* they got to us. They killed my sister first then my parents then they knocked me out," His face floods with sadness and vengefulness, and he balls up his fists. "When I woke up It was still night, all I had was a note, I read it, and it said; 'We didn't feel like killing you, we thought you were brilliant, and so, you deserve a different kind of torture, the mobs!' And I've been adventuring ever since." Tanaka looks up, his face full of resentment. "wait, is that the end?" the hag askes. "yep" Tanaka replies "Thank the heavens."
