You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

Nikulas’ gaze would just laze around the room once more, eventually his heavy steps walking to the closest seat, looking at the women with a small smile forming on his face. “Well…where to begin Ma’am?” He would take a moment, his eyes wide, giving a small chuckle “Where are my manners? My name is Nikulas Grimshawe…” He would look up for a moment, his eyes darting around the room again before opening his mouth to speak again. “I was born in a fortress, covered in snow…an endless sea of white powder is what I liked to call it, forever cold, forever expanding. This Ocean fascinated me, making me wonder if this was what the world was, Was it this cold? This harsh? My mind would bring this question  up to me every few years, from when I was a young child, to preparing for my first battle.” He would close his eyes, his breath shaky and his head bowed down a bit, after a few minutes he would continue his story. “Growing up in this fortress, with these people…you are taught that above all, you must survive. That you are to uphold your family's honor, and lift up your name with pride. I took those words to heart, but I twisted it in my own way…into making it my goal that we all survived. That was never a reality though, not really, a childish dream that one wishes when you hold onto your hope.” Nikulas would look to his bag, reaching over and pulling out a small note and a withered flower. “I have faced many foes, survived many battles and taken many trophies as was tradition, but this was my most prized possession, a Note from a friend…imagine that, you know?”  A small smile would creep on his face, putting the note and flower back into the pack he took it out of. “One day, the question popped in my mind again. This time pulling at me, nagging, the promise I made to old friends who have moved on caused it to linger evermore, and one day I just took the leap…I left my home, traveled through the show with nothing but my bag, a sword and some personal items. When I broke through the endless sea of snow, all I could feel was…wonder.” The smile creeped back, and Nikulas would let in a deep breath, letting it out as he closed his eyes. “The smell was almost refreshing, and my new battle arrived. Travel, explore, expand my knowledge…and so far it has led me here. Then again, all Journeys have a rough beginning, Ya?”
