Prisoner #98407 Transcript Session 19

Guard: Wake up Mad Eye, question time again. *the guard splashes water on the prisoner, the sound of the ice cold water dripping and chains rattling echo the dimly lit dungeon.*

G: Hopefully you’ll be a bit more cooperative this time.  *the other guard’s footfalls echo as he clangs the gate behind him.*

G: Where is the dowry Beric?  We know you were with the raiders in the Emperor’s Courtyard, we caught you nigh on ten fortnights ago yet you refuse to tell us anything.  You’re beat Beric.

Beric: *No Response*

G: *Knees Beric in the abdomen as he’s hunched over in his chains* You always were a piece of work.  A street urchin Norlander orphaned from the war, you always found yourself in trouble.  We do not take pity on law breakers, especially not gutter trash.  We should have just locked you away here in the dungeon, lock you up and throw away the key, no one would have noticed, no one would have cared.  No one but that drunk of a mentor Helvard who kept bailing your sorry hide out of trouble.  *punches Beric across the face* You could have lived the life a good citizen if it wasn’t for that low life mentor of yours.  He probably was the one who talked you into joining those raider scums, The Wolfblades.

B: *Still unresponsive*

G: You raiders are all the same... *unsheathes sword and places it to Beric’s chest* This is your last chance Beric, the patient of my superiors grows weary.  Tell us where the dowry is or face the justice of the Empire!

B: *No response*

G: So be it.  *Plunges the sword into Beric’s chest, yet Beric seems unmoved by it.*

G: *reaches for lantern and brightens it up.*  *the body in the chains is not Beric, it’s another guard, long already dead.*

G: *stumbles backwards in fear as he tumbles into a object that was neither bar nor wall.*

B: *grasps the guard from behind, choking the guard before the snap of his neck and his last gasp of air pierces the dungeon halls.*

Beric picks up the key to the cell from the guard and opens the cell.

His heavy footsteps approach as he walks towards me.  He tossed me a gold pouch and sn-
