You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”

For a few moments I look at the old hag, a little confused, but soon After the first wave of the confusion, I stare at the old hag awkwardly; for I am both cautious, yet curious of her, deciding to take a seat on the cushion, taking my hood off, and lowering gracefully to the floor to the cushion. Happy to take a seat after days of travel. And at last I say to her:

"Good day, Madame! I know not of who you are, but I shall answer your questions. I am Elasi, I am a scholar, or so I aspire to be, and I am traveling to learn of other places; gathering their knowledge. I hail from the Principality of Celia'nor, from the great city in the redwoods, Fi'andria!"

I say that proudly, proud of my High Elven heritage, and proud of the great city of Fi'andria that my fellow Elven kin have built! After passing for a moment, I continue on:

"We are proud seekers of knowledge, and I aspire to walk in the footsteps of those who have come before me. Now you wish to know of my story do you? I suppose I shall tell you of it then. As I have said, I hail from Fi'Andria, I hail from a small little known family, the Valinara. As I have said I aspire to become a scholar, wizened in the lore of all the folk of the world; to achieve this I wish to travel the world, meeting its people and learning firsthand from the most wise of the world. I wish to learn all that I can so that I may help and serve my home, though I fear I sometimes get a bit too into my research, at times, which I fear may be off putting, some also say I am known to talk for much too long…"

I pause, only just now realizing how long I've been rambling on to this old hag, who has said little to me except for when we met… I give a sigh, tired from traveling.

"Oh dear me, it seems that this may be one of those moments, I've been chatting away for quite some time now haven't I? Though I suppose I have said all that I have to say on this matter!"

At last, I start to get up, dusting off my cloak, and preparing to leave to find shelter for the night, I give my farewell to the mysterious old hag, and head out.
