First born to Hamman Thawhapeos, a cavalryman in a mercenary company in the far-off lands of the Rassid, he was raised a warrior as the sole son of the family. His early life was dominated by training in the ways of battle, practising the way of the sword. In his youth, he would join his father’s band, working as a squire doing menial labour. On one of many journeys with the company, a stop was made in a village of the name ‘Alagopolis’ on the banks of an oasis. In this town, he heard a preaching of the word of God. Religion had been present in his life, but never playing a large part. The word of God had inspired him, and the teachings stuck with him when the company was leaving the town. An encountre with a band of nomads had left him lost in the desert, walking for days without food or drink. Death was certain as he lied in the sand, lost in the desert. It was a monk that found him, healing him and teaching the way of God. The word of God had inspired him to take a pilgrimage to the far lands of the human, searching for the truth about God.
