Background: Sir Roderick was born in a poor village in a land far far away from Adria. He had a hard life, working as a farmer and a hunter to support his family. He dreamed of becoming a knight, but he had no money or connections to join the royal army. He taught himself how to fight with a sword and a horse, using whatever he could find as weapons and armor.
One day, he saved the life of the vice count of the land, who was visiting his village disguised as a commoner. The count was impressed by his courage and skill, and offered him a chance to become a knight. Sir Roderick accepted, and soon rose through the ranks of the army. He became one of the count’s most trusted and loyal knights, and his childhood friend and mentor. He fought bravely in many battles and earned the respect and admiration of his fellow knights and the people. He was also known for his kindness and generosity, as he often helped the poor and the oppressed.
However, his life changed when count Arthas became corrupted by a dark power and turned against his own people. He ordered Sir Roderick to lead a massacre of a peaceful village that was suspected of harboring rebels. Sir Roderick refused to obey and tried to reason with the king, but he was accused of treason and sentenced to death. He managed to escape with the help of some loyal friends, but he was branded as a traitor and an outlaw.
He wandered the lands for many years, looking for a new purpose and a new home. He became a mercenary, selling his sword and skills to anyone who could pay him. He fought in many wars and conflicts, but he never felt any loyalty or attachment to any cause or leader. He also never forgot what count Arthas did to him and his people, and he vowed to someday return to his own village and take revenge for his people.
He heard about Adria, a land that was rich in resources and opportunities, but also plagued by wars and strife. He decided to travel there and look for work as a mercenary. He hoped to find some peace and happiness in this new land, but he also knew that he would face many dangers and enemies along the way.
Personality: Sir Roderick is a brave and honorable man, who values justice and freedom above all else. He is loyal to his friends and allies, but he is also wary of strangers and authority figures. He is proud of his skills and achievements, but he is also humble and respectful of others. He is not afraid of death, but he is not reckless or suicidal either. He has a sense of humor and a soft spot for the weak and the innocent, but he can also be ruthless and cold when necessary. He is a man of few words, but he speaks with wisdom and sincerity.
Motivation: Sir Roderick’s main motivation is to find a new place where he can belong and be happy. He wants to forget his past and start anew. He also wants to make enough money to live comfortably and help those in need. He is not interested in fame or glory, but he does not mind being recognized for his deeds. He is also driven by a desire for revenge against King Arthas, who betrayed him and his people. He hopes to someday return to Valyria and overthrow the tyrant king.
Strengths: Sir Roderick’s strengths are his skills as a warrior and a leader. He is an expert in swordsmanship, horsemanship, leadership, survival, languages, etc. He can fight in almost any terrain and almost any weather condition, against a small number of foes. He can also inspire and command others with his charisma and authority. He is adaptable and resourceful, able to deal with any situation or challenge.
Weaknesses: Sir Roderick’s weaknesses are his trust issues and his guilt. He has trouble trusting anyone who is not his friend or ally, especially those who have power or influence over him. He is always on guard against possible betrayal or deception. He also feels guilty about his past actions as a knight of Valyria, especially the ones that led to his exile. He blames himself for not being able to stop King Arthas from becoming evil or save his people from suffering. He sometimes wonders if he deserves happiness or redemption.
You’ve just arrived in a swampy, dim town. As you look around, your gaze is met with shacks and cabins. It smells of rotted wood and wet moss. You duck and step into a tattered tent, illuminated by a series of candles suspended in the air. At the back of the tent, an old hag raises her head, “What brings you to this dingy town? she begins, then pauses to study your face—”Ah, it’s you. I’ve been expecting you. Sit,” she gestures at a cushion, “Tell me your story.”
I sit on the cushion and look at the old hag with curiosity and suspicion. How does she know me? What does she want from me? I decide to be cautious and not reveal too much about myself. I say:
“I’m a traveler, looking for work and adventure. I heard that this town has some opportunities for mercenaries like me. I don’t have much of a story to tell, just a lot of battles and bloodshed. Why have you been expecting me? What do you know about me?” Once she replies I say "Well can you point me to the nearest village I am looking for adria."
